Short and entertaining, but don't expect a work of great art By Christina (Ensconced in Lit) I won this book from librarything member giveaways in exchange for an honest review.Zombies of the Apocalypse is about a dead beat guy stuck in the middle of the apocalypse trying to find his girlfriend who is four states away. This leads to a road trip with another buddy and lots of zombie fights along the way.I admit I didn't have high hopes for this novel, but I was actually pleased with what I got. At times, I laughed out loud at the conversations of the two dead beat friends, and this book played like a bad B movie that you couldn't help but keep watching. It took me about half an hour to read, and I enjoyed it. It'll never be seen as a great work of literature, but I've watched worse movies that were twice as long.

I'm more afraid of the bad grammar than the bad zombies By Mary Lavers (in Canada) It's not often that I criticize a book for things like grammar, spelling and typos. The reason is that I read a lot of advanced reading copies (ARCs) of books, which are often uncorrected galley proofs, yet to be copyeditted before publication. I mention this only because I find it hard to believe that the staggering amount of spelling, punctuation and grammar mistakes in the novel Zombies of the Apocalypse (how it qualifies as a "novel" I'm not sure, since it came up as only 41 pages on my e-reader) makes it hard to believe it's simply a matter of being an "uncorrected proof." The fault must lie with the author--correct that--two authors. Two people can't seem to figure out when to use a comma and when not to capitalize a common noun. Unbelievable.Other readers have assured me that a LOT of zombie fiction is poorly written, but this must be low on the quality scale, even within the genre. And I can only hope that there is plenty of well-written zombie fiction. This, however, isn't it.For more reviews, please visit me at CozyLittleBookJournal!Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from the publisher/author through the LibraryThing. I kept waiting for the appearance of the zombies and although they were there we never really had a description of them or dealt with them in any major way. They were more background to the story of a man trying to reach his girlfriend. Many of the sentences weren't grammatically correct and the past and present tense switched in a confusing manner. Capitals were used in strange ways that made no sense to the story such as a reference to "her Father's Body". I mainly finished the story because I wanted to see if the character found his girlfriend...and because it was so short.
