2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. I had never read any Steampunk before... By Danoelle I had never read any Steampunk before, so I thought I'd give it a try. What a whirlwind action trip! Fast action with lots of quick plot twists. This is not a story you'd stop reading and put aside -- you'll keep going because you'll want to find out what happens.What I liked best was the plethora of historical, musical, literary, movie, and cultural references that would probably fall flat for anyone younger than 50 or who has only been raised on comic book characters and has no idea what William Butler Yeats wrote. (You probably know which movie actor was referred to as "Duke", but do you know who Monty Montana and Brendan Behan were?).I guess the best thing I can say is that after reading this short story, I bought four Steampunk novels in the Kindle Store. I may be hooked!

As with the first in the series (Captain Max and the Armored Steam -Balloon), Jones weaves a mystical yarn chock-full of contemporary issues, yet fantasy-laden in Steampunk fashion. Here's a parallel universe you will look forward to revisiting time after time, all the while looking forward to the next Steampunk adventure….

It's well-written, fast paced, and full of humor. It kept me turning the pages to see what was going to happen next. If you're a fan of steampunk literature, check this one out. If you haven't read any steampunk before (like me!), try it, you'll like it.
