About the Author Award-winning author William Valentine was born in New York City and grew up on the Jersey Shore. He resides with his wife in Florida, where he has owned and operated a major boatyard for the last 30 years. His hobbies include sailboat racing, big game and flats fishing, bird hunting, sporting clays shooting, and blues music. William holds a B.A. in English Literature. The Tampa Mafia, the Russian Mafia, Seth, Beau and don't forget "The Geezers" and Dino Vino. What a cast of characters.The author develops the characters so well I almost feel as if I know some of them. The author's imagination is not only beguiling but extremely tantalizing.He teases you throughout the book but the climax is worth the wait. Valentine possesses amazing descriptive talent that brings every situation to life. From Seth's first sexual encounter with Lori on her balcony to the eradication of the Russian Mafia from Key West.The author subversively draws your attention to "The Geezers" and their younger com-padre Dino Vino, who gives the Tampa Mafia a lesson in self defense. The best part of the book is the ending as the author creatively draws together all the loose ends.The journey is an exciting adventure filled with intrigue, humor and romance. I don't know if the author has plans for a third mission for Seth, Beau and whomever else pops in, but if so, I am all in! The technical aspects are not only realistic and accurate but well thought out and thoroughly researched.Valentine creates spot on scuba diving and maritime episodes. Not only is this story timeless, but it would make a great movie.I did not think William Valentine could follow up with a sequel that topped his first novel "Salt Creek Justice" but he has! Kudos and congratulations Mr. Valentine you have done it again!

Byrne The Florida adventure novel genre continues to flourish with the second Seth Stone installment from William Valentine titled, Costa Rican Reprise. It turns out that Seth and his brother, Beau, didn't cover their tracks well enough to evade the Mafia's attention after all, as we tune in a couple of years following Salt Creek Justice, Valentine's first novel. After becoming convinced that Seth is the key to their lost millions, the gangsters discover our hero is a hard man to find, let alone capture. Meanwhile, Seth is too busy with his talented over-the-hill gang pretending to be fishing (while they actually are), as a cover to tracking down a stolen yacht in the hands of some rowdy smugglers. These semi-retired age-hardened salt water cowboys have all the right toys and know-how to run a first class recovery operation quarter-backed by Seth. They also know how to have fun, and the fun is contagious. The good and bad guys start crossing paths in Key West when things start really popping. Soon after, Beau must come back to life, as novel shifts gears and the hunters become the hunted. While John D. MacDonald remains long dead, we can thank Valentine for keeping his spirit alive in this believable and well-constructed adventure.

This book was another fun, can't-put-it-down read involving several new crusty and crafty characters who outwit the deadly Tampa mob while side-stepping the formidable Russian mob. Throw in some great fishing, travel to exotic locations, wine and cigars and a bit assorted mischief … and you’ll be wanting to insert your self into the adventure as a character too. Tip of the hat to Mr. Valentine for another great book. You get the feeling he enjoys writing these books as much as we do reading them.
