Rob Roy is a captivating novel of chivalry and romance set in the Scottish Highlands of the 18th century.
After rejecting the life his father has laid out for him, Frank Osbaldistone is sent to the North of England to live with his Uncle, where he is to repent his sins. However, when his father's wealth and reputation are threatened, he is drawn to the Scottish Highlands, where he must retrieve a set of stolen documents. It is here that he is pulled into a number of skirmishes relating to the Jacobite uprising of 1715, and where his path frequently crosses with the mysterious maverick outlaw known as Rob Roy....
Scott's portrayal of Scotland is remarkable in its vivid and evocative panorama of the highlands, and his insightful exploration of social, economic, and historic themes.

Great Scottish Classic By Bonnie Neely The classics from Real Reads are always an incredibly readable and enjoyable experience and education for children to grandparents. This classic tale from Scotland features Frank who hates working in the office of his father and persuades his cousin Rashleigh to change places. But missing papers which must be found lead Frank into intrigue, mystery and danger with the famous outlaw Rob Roy,...or is he an outlaw? You will eagerly read to the end to learn which side the infamous Rob Roy is truly serving. Very good and the illustrations help everyone remember the characters and events.

Eckersley The Edinburgh Press Edition of Walter Scott's Waverly novels is an extraordinary achievement of clear, original text as Scott wrote it with scholarly introductions. But a uniform hard back edition of Scott's novels is almost impossible, other than this edition, to find. The volumes are expensive, but are worth it to anyone who loves Scott and fine books.
