About the Author Fredric Brown (1906 1972) was the only writer to achieve equal prominence in the mystery and science fiction genres. His first foray into mystery, "The Fabulous Clipjoint", won the Mystery Writers of America s Edgar Award for Best First Novel. Brown was also the acknowledged master of the short short story; the famous collection "Nightmares and Geezenstacks" demonstrates his consummate mastery of a form limited to no more than five hundred words. His short story Arena was the basis of a famed "Star Trek" episode; Martians, Go Home! was adapted for a 1992 film; The Last Martian was adapted for Serling s "Twilight Zone" and starred Steve McQueen at the start of his career. Brown s work, more than forty years after his death, is increasingly prominent.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. One of Brown's Short-Shorts By Elliot Fredric Brown specialized in short-short science fiction stories (often only a page or two long). They were usually funny, but this time-travel story is unusually poignant for Brown.

Great pulp fiction tale By kindle worm In the tradition of The Twilight Zone, this short tale starts with the following teaser: "It is a tough decision to make -whether to give up your life so you can live it over again!" That is the premise of the story. Not someone else's story, but it is we ( as the main character is "you" ) who find ourselves in a dark little room unaware of how or why we got there, but that's only the beginning of our troubles. What would you do? Find out in this short yet enjoyable pulp fiction tale.

He could have expanded it but I think it would have lost the simplicity and what it was trying to portray if he did. Recommended, give it a shot won't take long to read.
