But amid the ensuing chaos, he discovers that if the genetically altered creatures don’t catch him, the other shadowy force that’s determined to capture and use him for devious purposes just might…

Review "This is a thinking person's science fiction novel: the narrative manages to be at once philosophical and page turning. The premise of the novel offers a springboard for talking about religion, ethics, and how quickly people can go from good to evil, and Kazan does so effectively. For the conspiracy-minded, or those who like their science fiction with a dose of horror, Declassified Events is a disturbing but exciting read." Self-Publishing Review, 4 Stars

Declassified Events: Predator Island By Lennette Declassified Events: Predator Island by Fouad Kazan is a compelling sci-fi thriller that gives the reader a sneak peek into the domain of secret experiments gone wrong. Meet Chris Hopkins, serving time in prison for murder. With no family to look for him, Chris is transferred to Predator Island, home of experiments that have resulted in the most gruesome of creatures. Chris is meant to be next in line to become one of these so-called ultimate warriors until one scientist comes to his aid. Creatures run loose on the island killing any and everyone in sight and Chris, along with a few soldiers and scientists fight for their life as they try to reach the safety of a military base. Unknown to Chris, surviving the creatures will not do him much good, as there is still a devious plot in place to use him in the experiment. Every time he thinks he is safe, someone or something is hot on his tail. The “Organization” is responsible for this disaster and since they answer to no higher authority, everyone, including members of the military, is labeled expendable except for those in control of the experiment and the precious scientists. There are several characters who stand out and I was glad to see that a least a few of them maintained their humanity. The one character that I really despised got exactly what was coming to him and that was a pleasant surprise. This is an action packed ride that has twists and turns at every corner and I enjoyed it so much that I read it in one day. The scary thing about this story is that it is quite possible that secret experiments take place all around us and we are never the wiser. The ending was a bit of a surprise, but I think there may be another book to come. All may not be lost as the “Organization” carries out the final cover up on the island and I can see many possibilities if the story continues. I recommend this to everyone who likes fast action with a little love story thrown in, but if gruesome killing is not to your taste you may want to pass on this one.

Not perfect, but a capable and worthy thriller By atomskeater Declassified Events: Predator Island is an action-packed novel that details the events surrounding a research island and the cruel experiments that take place there.Chris Hopkins is imprisoned for robbery, murder, and other offenses minor and large when hes pulled from his cell and forced to the strange, secret and aptly named Predator Island. The scientists there are conducting horrifying experiments to alter DNA and create a living weapon. Its Chris's poor luck to be the rabbit thrown into a den of wolves. He struggles to survive the constant threat of being hunted in an unfamiliar environment. The story gets the blood pumping with lots of action and a tinge of horror. The writing is generally engaging. Its simple, but still pleasantly descriptive and has a "movie-like" quality. While Chris is not an immediately sympathetic character, I still identified with his plight and struggle with redemption. The story moves at a nice clip, preventing boredom, and the danger of Chris's situation feels real and imminent. There are other characters such as Dr. Sullivan, an obsessed researcher who would stop at nothing to complete his work. Jill is another researcher who maintains more of her humanity, seeing many of Sullivan's methods as inhumane and cruel. The tale weaves in themes of redemption, religion, and how humans walk a razor-thin line between good and evil. One flaw is a lack of editing, leading to awkward phrasing and other typos that gunk up the flow. A lack of contractions during casual speech also also makes dialogue sound a little odd. Hopefully with Kazan's next book, these issues will be addressed as writers improve every day. While it doesn't take long to get to the meat of the story, occasionally the book is too wordy about minor things. Despite that, I still think the book is a worthy read, and I look forward to future tales from this author.

What happens when you mix the hybrid experiments of ‘The Island of Dr. Moreau with the advanced genetic engineering from ‘Jurassic Park and put it all in the hands of a weapons manufacturer who are looking to test out their latest creations? You get Fouad Kazans ‘Declassified Events: Predator Island! In the story we follow Chris Hopkins who is a criminal that is behind bars for murder. His latest transfer seems to be to another reason but soon finds out that he is in for so much more as he finds himself on a mysterious island. In this action filled thrill ride we see Hopkins squaring off against these genetic monsters in a fight for his life. Only, they aren't his only problem. The military complex that captured him has their own plans in mind and want to use him in their further experiments. Surviving the creatures wont be enough to ensure his survival or the salvation of his humanity as he needs to get away from Project Hybrid itself. One detractor from the novel to some might be in the very description that claims that the novel is devoid of long, boring descriptions and complicated language which isn't necessarily true as some of the passages can be a little overly informative or wordy. While the novel could have probably done well by going through one more editor, the plot itself is solid and the story moves along pretty quickly. I'm curious to see how Kazans writing evolves in the future and look forward to what he puts on page as he has a strong story and just needs to reign in some of his sentences.
