About the Author E.E. Martin, the author of the Warped Ones series, the Gift of Saturn series, and the Ember series, and As We Break, wrote her first novel at age 15 in 2005. The first manuscript was motivated by a request of her grandmother, and Martin read the book to her grandmother, chapter by chapter, until it was complete. Her grandmother put it best when she said, "Keep on writing. I might as well tell you to keep on breathing." (Anna Mae Wilson, 1936-2010). Martin writes books for varying audiences and in multiple genres, including literary, YA, fantasy, etc. Martin has written novels, screenplays, theatrical plays, songs, short stories, and poetry.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A boy with dangerous magic and a dragon By Jeremy There is a lot going on in this story, so it keeps you on your toes. The coolest parts of the book are those that introduce you to things like banshees, pixies, dragons, and so forth. You learn how some of these came to be in the first place. Everything that happens in the magical world is layered with twists, great story, and interesting characters. The story starts in the regular world. The main character is a high school boy that is not your normal hero. He is bullied and isn't the kind you would normally entrust to save anybody. Then he learns he has magic, and the story picks up the pace instantly. He doesn't have normal magic either which is an interesting take. He has warped magic which is supposed to be some scary stuff. The only reason he finds out is because people are hunting him. Warped magic isn't allow to stay around because they don't play by the normal magic rules. You learn some about warped magic in this book, but it seems there is still much to learn in the hopeful sequels. Add to the allure of his magic that he gets a dragon to tag along with him, and you have a pretty fun read. I recommend this book to anyone though it does seem well suited for the YA crowd. I guess you would call it fantasy though it does go back and forth between the real world too. It's a great, quick read. I look forward to the sequel.

A rich and well crafted fantasy adventure with just a dash of YA By Never1701 Hunted is a creative and evolved novel that falls between High Fantasy and Young Adult coming of age story. The main character Kyron wakes up one day to find that he is the heir of a rich history of magic, and that many people want to make sure he never realizes his true potential. Martin gets high marks for create a very elaborate fantasy world that defies traditional interpretations of magic creatures like dragons, pixies and banshees. Her character possess a rich vibrancy that will keep the reader deeply entranced. The plot is well paced if a little trope heavy in places. Overall, Hunted is a great debut novel for her Warped Ones series that will keep the average person glued to the page until it's done.

By gil48 The main guy Kyron doesn’t know anything about magic but quickly finds out that not only does he have magic but he is also a special kind that isn’t allowed to exist. He’s been living in the regular world and finds out that the secret of his real family has been kept from him until his magic starts. His magic is feared by others because it’s uncontrollable and doesn’t have to play by normal magic rules. The stakes really rise up when Kyron touches a special stone. Any other kind of magic would have died from touching it, but for Kyron, he gets a little more time. The stone becomes part of him, and it’ll eventually kill him if he doesn’t get it out. To get it out he has to go to where they’re hunting him, and the story gets better and better from there.The story is fast paced and rarely has a slow moment. Every chapter has something exciting, whether its flying on a dragon or getting hauled off by pixies that aren’t cute like some stories or learning about how magic came to be in the first place. The story builds this other world that feels realistic even considering you’re talking about mermaids and banshees. There are a lot of characters introduced, so you have to focus to keep track of them all, but they’re all great and you’ll want to know more about all of them. The story will definitely surprise you a few times and leave you ready for the next one. I’d recommend this to just about anyone. It’s a fun read.
