It is a little strange even for a science fiction book which made it a little hard to get into. It seemed a little disjointed like he was trying to write in two or more separate genres and they kinda blended but it took some concentration.I received a free e-copy through bookbub.

He runs afoul of rookie FBI agent Samantha Strike. She is convinced he has information on her murdered father, a Senator. They end up in South America searching for the Emerald Elephant, which is not a statue but a name on a map leading to a lost Incan city of gold. They meet up with some of Keene's crewmates who also survived the cold sleep. The story moves along at a brisk pace and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that in some places where the action switches POV, there is no blank line indicating a scene change, which causes a moment of confusion til you realize a change had taken place. Other than that, a solid beginning the Kip Keene series.
