A thoroughly enjoyable read By DaveL Nicole Nelson has retreated to the small Cape Cod village of Goodhaven to finish her PhD thesis in a place where she can concentrate without distractions or romantic entanglements. Her friend, the crusty Shelby Whitholm, had offered her a place where she could stay inexpensively and focus on her work. Her plans go awry when Shelby is found brutally murdered. While Shelby was warm and maternal toward Nik, she was also the outspoken town gadfly, not afraid to express her opinions at town meetings or take on the powers that be. As Nik follows the trail of the crime, she discovers a numbers of secrets about Shelby, including that the old woman had been a collector of classic comic books, now worth a fortune--yet one more motive for murder.Enter Alajandro Lee, an attractive stranger from the west coast who had been contracted by Shelby to appraise her collection--and who was the one who found her dead. Goodhaven is populated with an eclectic cast of characters, all of whom seemed to have a motive for murder. All, along with the newcomer, are suspects.Nicole is bright and sassy, but a touch insecure, as she confronts her attraction to Aljandro Lee. The cast of colorful characters lead the two of them on a merry chase.Arlene Kay's breezy style and witty dialog make Die Laughing a thoroughly enjoyable read. This is her second novel and I think it's safe to say she's mastered the cozy mystery romance.

Die Laughing By Kevin Symmons As a fan of Arlene Kay's witty and inticately woven mysteries I found this one--her second--as entertaining as I have come to expect. Nicole Nelson is on the trail of her old friend's murderer... and as with all Arlene's works, she refuses to be denied. Where others would give up the chase and let the "professionals" do the work, like all Arlene's spunky, determined heroines "Double N" as she's refered to, will hear none of it. And of course no AK work would be complete without the suspicious but nonetheless devastatingly handsome hero. Is he the charming savior he appears or will he break Nicole's heart and turn out to be the villian. And none of her stories would be complete without a cast of complex and facinating characters. I will not spoil the fun other than to say that like it's predecessor, Intrusion, Die Laughing is a mystery and romance worthy of reading. You'll be unable to put it down!

Arlene Kay has captured the quirks and nuances of the people and the area. Her plot keeps you guessing, her dialogue is sharp and witty and her characters are typical without being stereotypical. I read the whole book in one sitting and obviously I couldn't put it down. Arlene Kay is a worthy successor to the great female murder mystery writers, can't wait to read another of her mysteries.
