Any Sci-Fi fan will be captivated by a spellbinding plot, fast action in another world. Character development by this multi-faceted author is suburb. You can't avoid identifying with, and agonizing for, the "good guys," both human and non-human. The "bad guys," human and non-human, are equally revolting and despicable....you'll find it easy to hate them. Two thumbs up, I hope there's a sequel.

It has the right balance between real science and believable invented science. The characters are interesting and varied. This will make an awesome movie!

Passage to Niburu By oaklyridge90 This is a fun action-adventure sci-fi story but with lots of interesting mythology (especially Native American) and science woven in. If you are into the science it is fun to investigate the futuristic concepts used in the story and see what current theories have to say regarding them. If you aren't into the science then just enjoy the action, humor and fun ensemble of characters. Clearly there is a lot more to come in this story, so I am looking forward to the sequel.

Interesting approach By Victoria Harris What is interesting is the authors have taken the current zombie craze and use it to impart relevant information for survival. I found the information very informative for survival in all situations. Thomas Maddox and Keith Harris have taken their police training and given it to the general public in an easy and actually entertaining way to understand. I would definitely recommend this book.

This Isn't Your Grandma's Zombie Apocalypse By HiredGunn This wasn't exactly what I was expecting -- although I'm not sure what I was expecting, just based on the title.First, it's not a novel, so there is no dialogue or narrative, as such. Instead, it is an extremely thorough, dead (pardon the pun) serious, "just the facts, Ma'am" approach -- not only to zombies, even peppering the book with citations from scientific papers, books, speeches, etc. -- but to how law enforcement and civilians might deal with them.After awhile, you realize what the author actually has done is provide a detailed guide on how to prepare for and survive any major civil disturbance, based on his own experiences and training as a police officer. The "zombie apocalypse" part adds some dead-pan humor to what otherwise might be a dry and humorless topic -- and attracts readers where "A Cop's Guide to Civil Unrest" probably would not.But don't let that prevent you from reading it -- buying it, actually, as you should have it on hand, just in case. You almost certainly will be surprised at some warnings and suggestions, especially those that run counter to the flood of "survivalist" books and websites out there.My only real negative -- and why only 4 stars -- is the lack of a good editor who could have fixed some of the writing and structural problems that may make it difficult for some people to read. The good news there is your brain eventually will adapt and odds are you won't even notice those by the time you finish the first two or three chapters.Bottom Line: Whether zombies, terrorists, gangs or even your neighbors scared into uncharacteristic acts of barbarism, "A Cop's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse" is well worth your time and minor investment.

By Danielle Lee OK, so even though this is a book about Zombies, there's a lot of value here for a survivalist or those that may get near a pandemic-especially in light of the recent takeoff of the Mono death in San Diego, the death of the Ebola patient in Texas and the new virus killing kids all over America. I bought it because books like Tommie's Cop's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse could have useful information at a later time when all else is failing and because I like SciFi. My one complaint is the book could have used a good editor for some of the spelling and grammatical errors.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A little jewel for your reading pleasure... By Steve Moore I'm not a fan of the horror genre. I prefer Dean Koontz to Steven King because the former slips more sci-fi into his plots. Mr. Dyson's novella is Koontzian--nominally horror, but with sci-fi elements. It's also action and adventure and YA coming-of-age, with a bit of nostalgia thrown in. There's also humor at various levels, enough to make me recall the movies Goonies (kids in a cave) and Little Shop of Horrors (something else that's hungry). It's surprising to find all this much in a short piece, but Dyson can really entertain you with this one. My only complaint about his tale is that it shares a common failure in popular sci-fi stories: what strange evolution produces weird and solitary whatevers? The monster in Alien suffers from that problem. So does Jabba in Star Wars. Other than that, I had a wonderful evening reading this little jewel straight through. Lots of fun, too.

This tale had many fascinating characters that weaved twisted tale. Loved the whole story and I believe it would make for a great movie. I think Wiles is a hypothetical town, but the book implies it's not far from Hutchinson, close to the center of the state, northwest of Wichita ... The action occurs in the late nineteenth century, after the Civil War. The outlaw train is owned by two deceivers, and for an admission price, they claim to show embalmed outlaws, weapons and other criminal artifacts. Luke is acting city marshal in Wiles, filling in for Ben Keely. As acting marshal, Luke deals with a reformed drunk, with an unreformed prostitute, with murders and murderers, as well as with the operators of the outlaw train. The story moves fast, is five-star, and the outcome isn't predictable.

Judd has a real knack for describing the manners of small town life. Judd never writes formulaic Westerns; he takes chances in his writing, and the result is almost always an entertaining tale. Read this author's books instead of the generic Longarm,Gunsmith, or Slocum books.For Cameron Judd fans: he also writes Westerns under the names of Will Cade, Tobias Cole and Judson Gray.The paperback edition of this book has some great cover art.Highly recommended.

By Louise Pledge I was excited to learn that Alexa Verde had a new book out and even more excited when I started reading and learned that it was sort of an introduction to "Color of Danger". In fact, now I want to re-read "Color of Danger"! "Danger" is, certainly, an apros pos word to use in the titles, as "Danger Girls" was what a group of friends(former non-comformists) called themselves. And the Danger Girl in this book (River) was, continously, in danger. I had to wonder why it took her so long to accept her hero's protection!I am, surely, looking forward to learning more about the other "Danger Girls" in forthcoming books!

I was pulled into the live of the characters and the story line from the first pages, and the twists and turns in the story kept me reading until the final pages. I enjoyed the dynamics of the Danger Girls and definitely look forward to reading more about them. I was given a copy of this novella in return for an honest review, and this is one that I definitely recommend to any one who enjoys good Christian romantic suspense.

THE BLACK ORACLE is a fun-filled, adrenaline-rush of a ride from the very beginning, with terrifying, intriguing creatures, compelling characters, an intricate plot, and phenomenal story-telling. And that ending. I basically just LOVED this book. I've been reading a lot of contemporaries lately, and this was the perfect way to get back into the speculative fiction world. Great debut, and I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more of Cristiano's books!

The author had the story jumping between realms and several storylines, all of which were effortlessly combined into a fantastic read.I found the plot of the story very interesting. It was unlike any of the reads I have read recently. I liked the alien factor and that they were the ones wanting immortality. The fact that the author threw in the travel between realms was excellent, and gave it a wee bit of a sci-fi read. I also liked that the main reason our main character was searching for the key to immortality was not for his own use, but to save the one he loved. All of these factors were involved and written into the story very well.I liked the characters, there were plenty of strong female characters, which I loved. They weren’t main characters, but were excellent secondary characters. I also liked that our main character was strong, passionate and had a great will to succeed. The characters were all written with depth and personalities, whether you loved or hated them, even the aliens. I found myself able to connect and relate with those that I liked and willed them to succeed, even when it looked as though they were destined to fail.The pace of the story was very good, and it allowed both action-packed adventure and slower moments to allow us to get to know the realm, the characters and to feel the emotions they were feeling.Overall, I was very impressed by this read and am keen to read more by this author. I highly recommend it if you are a fan of epic fantasy and a bit of sci-fi.

By Amazon Customer Although I am not a traditional reader of science fiction and fantasy, I found The Black Oracle to offer a unique and refreshing take on life after the apocalypse. The novel was truly a diverse, interesting blend of genre - ranging from scenes that were suspenseful and profound, to others that were just downright hilarious. All this is backed further by an action-packed, dual story-line that caused me to devour the entire book in only a couple of days. The author's clever use of motif, attention to detail and mostly, his vivid imagery made the pages come to life for me. Can't wait to see what this very talented, upcoming author has in store next. Watch this space!

It starts out you think a dad and wayward son are going to bond on a hunting trip only to end up the targets of a group of mutant cannibals. I can pretty much never get tired of mutant cannibals so this was right up my alley. Fast paced and too the point, yet the characters were people you could connect with, so it was a full story. Very much reminded me of Texas Chainsaw Massacre/Hills Have Eyes/Wrong Turn type stories. Fun times.

If you have a weak stomach, would not recommend it. If you can handle some gore, you will definitely enjoy it. I fought my way through the explicit details because I was intrigued by the story line. Well worth the read. No nightmares, yet! Smile.

From start to finish, this was a book that I just did not want to put down. If sleep hadn't been an important part of my daily routine, I would have likely finished this in 2 days. I love books that flow & so many times, books of this nature & content just don't do so. Well, not with Mark Allen! I don't remember a time during this read where it became flat or boring. I loved the transitioning of the main character. I don't feel comfortable enough to give this much detail without giving away the plot & everything leading up to it & coming down the other side. I'm obviously not a book critic & can't write with the flair some of them do, but as a reader, I know what it takes to keep ones interest & this book does it. I simply cannot imagine anyone who likes genuine horror not loving this book. Although not horror in it's classic sense, it is a frightening read because the author writes with a style that is so believable, you actually fear this could happen in your own home town. Read this book....you'll love it!

He (the author) has a way of taking life's complicated issues, and putting them into such a clear perspective. Failure sucks. Not just the actual failure, but finding a way to work through it and not only get back to where you were, but to learn from it and use it to grow to new levels. That is what this book did for me. It is a great read - not too long, but full of stories and examples that you will remember as you walk through life. I bought the hardback because that's all that was available, but I'm glad I did, becasue I have a feeling that I will be going back to it again and again for not only encouragement, but actual strategy- a game plan. It's practical things you can do in the real world to really succeed, not just limp along in life. I also got his 12 Traits of the Greats book and liked that one as well.

I've heard Dave speak several times and he always makes me roll with laughter. My favorite joke that he tells is when one snake turns to another snake and asks, "Are we poisonous?" “I don’t know. Why do you ask?” replies the second snake. “Cause I just bit my lip,” explains the first snake. If you need a second chance in life because of past mistakes or circumstances, this book will help you. Everyone blows it from time to time, but with this book you can discover how to get "another shot" at life. Read it!

I read a few books and listened to a few audio books on the subject but I got no results. After the first few days of reading Eddies work and doing to exercises I noticed things starting to happen. I found pennies on the sidewalk, I got good parking spaces and even won a few dollars with the lottery. These books are life changers if you stick to what is written there. I am so grateful for coming across Eddies books! Be Blessed Buddy! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Another Informative and Entertaining LOA Book from Lottery Winner: Eddie Coronado By Geraldine I was pleased to note this new book by lottery winner and LOA expert: Eddie Coronado.The LOA techniques that Mr. Coronado has used personally (and very successfully) are expanded upon, in this new reference guide.This is not only a helpful and easy to understand book for those just beginning their LOA journey, but it is also a good refresher for those of us who have been using LOA for some time and with perhaps not as good of results as we had hoped for, to date.I particularly enjoyed the personal LOA accounts shared from the numerous people that he interviewed for this book. Made for an more interesting reading experience than just having the information itself presented.If you are a new or old fan of Eddie's, check this one out!

By sally labhart have ordered this for my pastor, fellowship friend and 3 of my children and one daughter in law. the BEST bible i have ever read and i have almost all different versions. explained things i always had trouble with, just can't say enough good things.

By Paul Hubert I first encountered the HCSB Study Bible in a Christian bookstore, looking for large print bibles for a friend with cataracts. I settled on an ESV study bible instead at that time, but considered the HCSB Study Bible ideal for new believers. At that time, my review of both bibles was CURSORY!I've since come to believe the HCSB superior in many ways to the ESV.1. The translation is more READABLE2. The format is VISUALLY more readable3. I like the use of Yahweh in place of the incorrect transliteration 'Jehovah' and its substitutes as found in the ESV.4. I very much like the capitalization of personal pronouns for Christ in the New Testament. For me, this removes ambiguity in reading comprehension.5. I love the Hebrew and Greek word references also not provided in the ESV.My one complaint about both bibles is that the words of Christ are not in red.I have read aloud to my wife through the NASB, the NIV and the NKJV in years past and recently through the ESV but have just moved to the HCSB and find both the translation and the FORMAT to provide easier oral rendering.In terms of format, the HCSB study bible is simply VISUALLY superior. Verse numbers are in BLUE, so easier to locate in the page. References and footnotes are in 'highlighted' boxes, so immediately seen. The use of color greatly enhances this bible's usefulness.Now, I am not Baptist (though the first church I joined after coming to faith at age 21 in 1970 was Conservative Baptist) - or actually ANY denomination - though my doctrine is likely closer to the Baptist than most others. The ESV comments strive to be even-handed, which can provide TOO much information and perhaps at the same time too little.The Hebrew and Greek word references in the HCSB are a GREAT asset not provided in the ESV.This particular bible COVER (raised crown of thorns on front and back) is so striking and personally inspiring I had to buy one for myself!Initially I bought two for two new believers at the Korean Presbyterian (PCA) church I am attending. They receive their copies this weekend! I LOVE giving bibles! One of my greatest weaknesses!

These have been seriously altered. Compare the Lord's Prayer in the HCSB with the King James (Luke 11:1-4) and you will see the the HCSB leaves out some very important parts of Jesus example prayer. "which art in Heaven"-missing; "thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth"-missing; "for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us"-missing; "but deliver us from evil"-missing.Think twice before buying this Bible. Revelation 22:19 says, "If any man shall take away from the words of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city..."HCSB has taken away many of God's Holy Words. BE CAREFUL!

Christians sometimes concentrate on heaven but Johnson reminds us that we are instructed to pray that God's will be done here, now. He encourages us to be a transforming influence on our community.Some Christians think that influence has to be through politics or business. Johnson believes we should bring the Kingdom influence to every reach of society. Each of us has daily opportunities for transforming influence. That influence comes from intentional living.He shares how the church he pastors has been instrumental in transforming the attitude and value system of their city. “Success in God's eyes is seen in the impact the message of the Kingdom has on how people think and live in my city, region and nation.” They found that the more they served their city with no agenda other than that the Lord be glorified, the more the city opened up to the message they carried.This is an encouraging and convicting book. I realize that many Christians have not learned about God and His Kingdom well enough to influence themselves and the community in which they live. Johnson has very good suggestions about basic attitudes we are to have towards those in the community. One that struck me was valuing people before they are converted. Every individual has been made in the image of God and has been given gifts by Him. That attitude of honoring others is an important first step to influence.This book is a great challenge for us to impact our community. We can carry the blessing of God to others. We can share the gifts God has given us with others. We can reveal the nature of God to others. Wisdom Guidebook for Kingdom Living By Steven Maimes This is a wonderful wisdom book filled with guides for Kingdom living and for creating a Kingdom culture. It contains advanced teachings of how to live a Kingdom life on earth and share this life with community. It discusses ways to get wisdom and understanding and contains Kingdom insights to be productive in life.Bill uses many examples from the lives of kings David and Solomon (from the Book of Kings, Chronicles & Proverbs) and from the teachings of Jesus.I liked the many discussions on wisdom including the explanations of the three manifestations of wisdom: creativity, excellence and integrity. Other interesting topics are also discussed including beauty, blessings and the Holy Spirit… all make this a very worthwhile book to read.Work is required to bring heaven to earth and this wisdom toolbox is helpful for who have ears to hear…

12 of 13 people found the following review helpful. One of Bill's best books By Daryl G. Nicolet I've read all the books Bill has authored, and this one I feel is by far one of his best. Presenting the reader with imagery of how the wisdom of God makes all things beautiful, and how the Church is destined to lead in wisdom as an example to the nations of the world. We are "the salt of the earth" but if we lose our flavor, the world will not view us as useful. The wisdom of God is the "Salt" that never loses its flavor.

The Daemoz exist in a newly created universe. Some are good, others dream of becoming gods and become evil. The good Daemoz join with the old gods and the four great spirits of the universe to fight the evil Daemoz. After driving the evil Daemoz from the universe, the old gods create earth and mankind. Mankind is dispersed across the planet in different tribal groups. The Ghorn live in the south, the Gwundi live in the north, the Shanar live in the west, and the Yaq live in the east. Some members of the various tribes are born with supernatural powers that are used to help their fellow tribal members and to provide for their personal gain. Over many years, the peoples of earth explore the planet and begin to work together across cultural lines. They establish treaties for trade and protection, intermarry to strengthen their positions against invaders, and engage in joint battles against evil forces. When the peoples of earth are faced with the greatest evil, the entity known as Chataan, the birth of a baby boy marks a change in life on the planet for all of mankind. The ultimate battle between good and evil ensues when J’Osha, the Golden One, returns to the era of time in which he was born to join with the powerful spirits representing all of the original groups of mankind. J’Osha must now figure out how he did it.

Once I started reading it i honestly didn't want to stop, and when I did have to stop I was right back to it as soon as I could! Marshall does a great job developing the characters and the cultures in his story and pulls them all together seamlessly when the real heavy action starts. A great original plot that left me wanting more. All I can say is I hope he's writing more books like this!
