If you could travel through time and space, what would that power do to you—to your soul? Imprisoned and left to die during WWII, American G.I. Floyd Sandburg finds what could be deliverance in the form of an ancient artifact, the Lens, which allows him to traverse time and space. After catching the attention of the Organization, a mysterious group that may run governments from behind the scenes on Earth, Floyd uses the Lens and crash-lands in an incredibly strange world. Separated from the Lens, Floyd must evade capture and a gruesome death at the hands of hedonistic, bloodthirsty giants and the extra-dimensional entities who control them…the same who run the sinister Organization. Floyd’s very soul hangs in the balance as he is thrown into the middle of a conflict spanning ages. He questions reality, convinced he is dreaming while suffering a slow death in that Nazi prison. Can his brother, Chase, convince him what is real and help him find the truth in time to save not only Earth, but his own soul? “What has been, will be...” Whichever path he takes, his choice will have consequences of Biblical proportion.

About the Author Head spinning in a caffeinated fugue, Kevin Bennett once found himself shredding down a Martian ski slope with a thousand irate Nephilim howling in his wake. On the way, he rescued twenty damsels, had lunch, and fully calculated Pi. In close company, he goes by “Rip’t Mikchete.” But he moonlights as an accordion-bearing comedian with an eye patch and a beret, who goes by “French Accent.” Sometimes he has trouble remembering who he is on what day, which has predicated the need for a good journal. Though what shows up inside that journal sometimes ends up getting published; like with Drabblecast, his story “2135: The Year Disco Came Back” headlining their ‘B-Sides’ segment. He has a piece published through Amphetamine Blue Press, another distributed by Escape Clause magazine, a story in issue number five of Abandoned Towers Magazine, is published with Bewildering Stories, Neonbeam Magazine, Clockwise Cat, Perpetual Magazine, The Short Humour Site, LitSnack, Print Static Movement, The Fringe Magazine, and in several issues of Golden Visions Magazine. He lives in Colorado, apparently.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. for good or evil By James Walker Trapped in a dark cell in a dusty cave in Afghanistan, WWII GI Floyd Sandburg has been abandoned by his Nazi captors, left to slowly die alone. But destiny has other plans for him, and, as his ultimate despair closes in, an ancient artifact enables him to teleport to his family’s summer home in Georgia. Meanwhile, the journal of a man known only as “Pike” describes his life-journey over decades—first as an agent for the early Bureau of Investigation, sniffing out alien hybrids who are part of a secret society on Earth called the Organization—and then how he eventually joins the Organization to destroy it from the inside, losing his humanity in the process. But are the competing Organization leaders, mind-benders Azazael and Ben’Thor, really aliens...or demons.Floyd discovers his parents are dead and his brother Chase is in a mental institution. And, unbeknownst to Floyd, the Organization has had a hand in it all. He visits Chase, who thinks Floyd is just another alien concocted from his madness. Floyd is trying to make sense of all this when the artifact transports him to another world...one with a prehistoric climate, giants and super-giants and dinosaurs and pterodactyl-riders and zeppelins and wonders beyond belief. But back at home, the Organization wants to recover the transporting artifact Floyd has, which is known as the Lens and figures prominently in its planned conquest of the world. As Floyd struggles to survive in the prehistoric world, known as Atlantea, it is revealed Azazael and Ben’Thor are the exalted leaders there and that Azazael is in the process of having the original Lens constructed. But how could it exist already? Through harrowing escapes and adventures, Floyd navigates this world of giants, making allies, and sets off a revolution between those controlled by the demons and those loyal to the Creator. But through all this, Floyd is convinced it is all in his imagination...and that he is still dying in the cave in Afghanistan: “I am the dreamer.” Therefore, though he does have to play by the rules of his dream, he feels his choices in it, for good or evil, do not really matter. It all comes to a head when Floyd returns to his own world. The Organization, demons, hybrids, the newly-formed FBI, Pike, Chase and others are embroiled in a struggle around and for the Lens...and prophecy, destiny and history will play out in biblical proportions. With an incredibly visual, captivating style, the author deftly transports us through worlds inside and outside the mind and from one age to another. High-minded, evil or self-serving, the vivid and captivating characters spring to life in a variety of forms, including human, hybrid, alien, giant and dinosaur. And the lead characters, especially Floyd, must struggle with their own interpretations of right and wrong—and how their choices will affect their souls, those they care about, and the eternal struggle between good and evil.Whether suspenseful and eerie or rapid-fire and explosive, the action is riveting, and the dialogue on-point and distinctive to each character. Description slides easily between the colorful and philosophical, colloquial and astounding, and often touches the artistic.Fans of sci-fi, adventure and fantasy will enjoy this roller coaster ride of arching suspense, dizzying action, and corkscrew turns through theology, time and human nature.

Floyd Sandburg is left stranded in a cave after his capture from the Nazis in Afghanistan during WWII. Sometime after his capture Floyd discovers an ancient pen sized artefact that has the power to help him escape and transport him to place to place, location to location and time zone to time zone. Floyd finds himself in a struggle that has been in place since evolution and his only chances of survival are to avoid capture as the ongoing threat of a horrifying death awaits him if he fails to save Earth and his own soul in time as he questions what will be required of him in the coming days? Unaware that his entire salvation lies within the artefact and his choices will have considerable consequences of a theological magnitude.Bennett successfully weaves two unique tales together that will give the reader a real insight into what a person with good morals may do when they are given too much power. The other tale gives the reader some idea of what the world may have been like before the deluge of Genesis. I would definitely recommend this book to fans of Sci-fi and fantasy, and to anyone who enjoys a highly imaginative story with strong characters, places and events that’s rooted in reality, theology and human nature. My Ranking: 5 Stars
