Just highly recommend you do not start reading this book at night, if you plan on getting any sleep...too good to put down. I will be reading more from this author. Kept me riveted from the beginning and would throw the background information as the story progressed, providing both background and suspense at the same time. I thought this was a well written book with a development of the characters in the story and the story line causing you to want to keep reading. The way it was written makes you feel that you are there watching the story develop with you in the story. Lots of action, tempered with lots of soul searching as well. All the main characters are extremely complex and that makes for interesting dynamics, I would have have vivid dreams running this storyline through my head at night. Can't wait for another book from Kirk...So glad I have this book, sharing with my two sons, will be a great summertime read for them.What an incredible story...again a warning DO NOT read this book near bedtime !!! (unless you don't have to work in the morning) Because you WILL NOT BE ABLE to put it down !!!!!!!!!!! Damn you Kirk...this was so awesome, felt like I could smell the cigar smoke, feel the humid Mexican air, and taste the gun powder from the fired gun....BRAVO !! Well done. I LOVED IT....

By D Zattau Newly published A Dark Country is not what I'd usually pick up to read..........that said it is a hearty, gripping book from cover to cover. Lots of action, well described scenery, good characters all make for a book that is hard to put down. I donated a copy to our library as this needs to be seen and read and I will re-read my copy again. The main character, Jack Duncan, is someone you want to see again.......next book perhaps. I can't wait.

It is 48 hours since I put the book down for the last time and it is still on my mind. Suspenseful would be an understatement. The characters stick in my brain as well. While it is fiction, I have known some personalities like those in the book, both good and bad. This adventure genre is a favorite of mine and I read books usually written by the same authors. My amazon account will show that I have read no less than 40 books by two authors who write similarly with good action and mystery. This story is deliciously rich to devour. It is the best book I have read in two years. Hard to believe that this is the first novel by Kirk Bogart. He must have had this on his brain for some time as the writing is so very well done. Be clear about this....you need to carve out time in your life to devote to this read because it is compelling.
