This book has been published in loving remembrance of Robert Lloyd Coffey, his life, his skill and his passion, for the written word. Ironically, at the time that he wrote it, he never would have suspected that the, cycle of water ideals presented in "The Adventures of Danny Dewdrop" would be diametrically opposed to the current environmentalist teaching that water can be wasted. (Somehow destroyed) God is still on the throne and has not stopped protecting his creation through the cycle of water. Thanks are extended to Margaret (Peg Coffey) Boesen the (authors sister), for her support and encouragement. Thanks also to Candice (Coffey) Zimmie (the author's daughter) for her support for this project. Thanks to the family of W. Loren Brinkman for their approval of and encouragement for this project. I Keith Lloyd Coffey (the author's son) thank God for allowing me to manage this project to completion. There you go Dad you are now a published Author. The first law of thermodynamics Matter cannot be created nor destroyed it can only change state. (Solid, liquid, gas)

Moonfleet, by J. Meade Falkner

From the Back Cover Moonfleet (1898) begins as a mystery and an adventure story, a tale of smuggling set among the cliffs, caves, and downs of Dorset. What will be the outcome of the conflict between smugglers and revenue men? How can the hero, John Trenchard, discover the secret of Colonel John Mohune's treasure? As the book progresses these two interwoven themes resolve themselves into a third and richer one, with the friendship and suffering of both John Trenchard and the craggy, taciturn Elzevir Block. The novel is at once a well-paced account of dramatic action and a celebration of the unregainable freedoms of childhood, when, as Falkner's sister wrote in a memoir, 'there are no seasons, everything happens all the year round'. Falkner's feeling for history and for the landscape of his Dorset setting combine with his gift for storytelling to turn Moonfleet into a historical romance of moving intensity.

About the Author John Meade Falkner (8 May 1858 – 22 July 1932) was an English novelist and poet, best known for his 1898 novel, Moonfleet. An extremely successful businessman as well, he became chairman of the arms manufacturer Armstrong Whitworth during World War I.

A Blast from the Past By Barton Breen Number me among the many who read this book in grade school back in the late 60's or 70's and the name stuck with me through the years.Later as an adult, I returned to this book to read it anew and experience the magic again.Yes, this is book designed for the younger reader. But as is the case with most well written books, all ages will find something to take away. Treasure Island, Kidnapped etc. are all of the same genre, but what makes Moonfleet unique is the tight identification of the young protagonist John Trenchard and the first person telling which brings the reader into seeing and experiencing it though his eyes. For a book published in 1898 and set in 1757 and following, that youth in the 60's would find it so fascinating and real is a testament to the talent of Falkner.Timeless. Engaging. Intriguing. Fantastic!Did I mention that I like it and recommend it heartily?

Moonfleet Should Be Better Known By Anne Wingate MOONFLEET is a novel that might have been written by Wilkie Collins and Charles Dickens together, although in fact it was written by John Meade Falkner. I first read it in high school and was very pleased to find it available on Kindle. It is a fast-moving novel narrated by a man looking back at his boyhood and early manhood with the kind of regret Robinson Crusoe had, although in many ways his sufferings were far greater.I would recommend it for all teenagers who have an interest in reading, and for those whose interest needs to be stimulated.

Fifteen-year old John Trenchard is bored living with his Aunt Jane in the shoreline village of Moonfleet in England - unitl his discovery of a secret thrusts him into a fugitive existence. The relatively dullish opening sets you up for a rivetting adventure, complete with "ghosts," an underground tunnel, smugglers, and the quest for a pirate's jewel treasure. Very atmospheric. Very intriguing.

Nature brings Healing in this novel from Gene Stratton-Porter

"A second later, Douglas Bruce entered. Rushing to Leslie he caught her to his breast roughly, while with a strong hand he pressed her ear against his heart. ‘Now you listen, my girl!’ he cried, ‘Listen at close range.’ Leslie remained quiet a long second, then she lifted her face: adorable misty-eyed, and tenderly smiling. ‘Douglas, I never listened to a heart before. How do I know what it is saying? I can't tell whether it is talking about me, or protesting against the way you've rushed around." — Gene Stratton-Porter, Michael O'Halloran In Michael O'Halloran, an orphaned newspaper boy dedicates his life to caring for another orphaned child.

Michael O'Halloran (Xist Classics), by Gene Stratton-Porter

From Library Journal Originally published in the early 1900s, this volume tells the story of the title character, a plucky orphan growing up in a Midwestern metropolis. O'Halloran's existence is dismal until he meets another orphaned child, and together they try to make a life for themselves. A little hokey, but stick with it.Copyright 1997 Reed Business Information, Inc.

From the Back Cover Jimmy turned to step from the gutter to the sidewalk. Two things happened to him simultaneously: Mickey became a projectile and smashed with the force of a wiry fist on the larger boy's head, while above both, an athletic arm was thrust out, and gripped him by the collar.

About the Author Gene Stratton-Porter (August 17, 1863 – December 6, 1924) was an American author, amateur naturalist, wildlife photographer, and one of the earliest women to form a movie studio and production company. She wrote some best-selling novels and well-received columns in national magazines, such as McCalls. A charming fable of American life in the 'teens By Mike Halloran Because of my name, many have asked me over the years if I was familiar with Gene Stratton-Porter's book, "Michael O'Halloran". As a boy, I was given a copy containing the pen and ink drawings and stills from the "photoplay" and have treasured it since (I do not know if modern editions contain either set of illustrations). Re-reading it as an adult, I am still charmed by this tale of an orphaned newspaper seller who asks nothing of the world except to "be square". It is easy to overlook major holes in the plot (for example, we never do know what is wrong with Peaches other than she is sick and can't walk), when we are presented with such a vivid description of American life in 1914 - even if some of the city scenes don't quite ring true. Though the characters suffer many hardships, the overall tone is so upbeat that it's easy to see why this book outsold "Pollyanna" in 1916. Stratton-Porter's skill as a naturalist make the country scenes especially vibrant. Her ear for dialog is unsurpassed showing the reader that, if life in America wasn't like this, it should have been. Having read this book, I am ready to believe that children and adults did speak this nicely to each other once upon a time. You, too, will wonder if the world wouldn't be a lot better off if everyone could just "be square".

Johnson I've read most of Ms.Stratton-Porter's books and this is one I've been wanting to read for months but wasn't available on Kindle until recently. She also wrote "Girl of the Limberlost". Most of her stories center on a nature setting as she was known as a botanist of sorts in her day and used her knowledge of that to write stories. This book is about a 10 yr. old boy making it on his own by following closely by his mother's instructions : stay away from booze, no stealing, giving an honest day's work for pay, keeping clean and saying his prayers. He does well for himself managing to steer clear of the dreaded orphanage home and being an industrious news boy. His good nature draws people to want to help him and he in turn has a courageous heart and rescues a small girl left to herself after her grandmother dies. All's well that ends well. This book doesn't have a hint of racial bias in it as other GSP books have. It's a wonderful book for children to read.

Winter’s Verdict is the second book in the Grace Restored Series. After graduation from high school in the small Oklahoma town of West Springs, Katie MacKenna decided to start her life over in Cleveland, Ohio. Taking into account her roommate and closest friend over the last couple of years in college, Jillian Shaw, was murdered by a serial rapist on campus just before break, Katie chose to stay on the nearly deserted campus instead of returning home to her abusive father. During break, she is approached with an opportunity that may affect her aspirations to be an FBI agent. In the meantime, she also builds a friendship with Giovanni, the mafia leader’s son. Things around her are confusing at best. Can she trust what is right before her when everything is not as it seems? Will her heart experience a winter thaw or will she forever be known as the Ice Queen? John 3:19-21 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

I can see this as a great swashbuckling movie, but I'm sure Hollywood would change the tragic ending. Still, it has plenty of action and some very meaty parts.

1 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Royal intrigue By A. Woman In the early 20th century there was a literary fad to write about a non-existent European country. The royal throne is somehow threatened and the only one who can save it is a brash and bold Anglo Saxon adventurer either from America or England. The Puppet Crown is one of those books and not a very good one at that. However, it differs from the other books of this genre in that not only does the brash and bold adventurer NOT save the throne, he dies in the end. There, I've spoiled it for you.

Years ago, when ancient man stared up at the heavens and believed it to be the dwelling of gods, something fell. An entity of immense and unfathomable power. From this sole survivor of a war-torn world, three races rose, and for centuries their presence has influenced man. Tales of creatures that defy explanation have been told over fires all over the world. A war, waged in secret, has spanned the ages. A feud between two, kept in the dark by a third. And it is coming to an end. Humanity will fall, for he is no longer the supreme ruler of this planet. He never has been.
