About the Author Born in Argentina and raised by a series of Native Indian nannies, Matias Flury had his first spiritual experiences when he was just a boy. In his late teens, through compulsive overuse of a breathing technique he had learned in a martial arts class, he developed tachycardia (a dangerously rapid heartbeat), and for a time teetered on the edge of severe physical and mental illness. While living as a jewelry seller to hippies, he married a young American woman, and in California they met Amma, the hugging Saint, and also another Indian saint named Sufi Baba, both of whom gave potent blessings. Eventually he discovered that he had Hepatitis C, which he had apparently contracted through blood transfusions in his childhood. He went through a long process of trying to heal it, following the advice of many doctors, but nothing was helpful. Finally he tried fasting, and soon found some relief for his symptoms. Eventually he did a water fast of 50 days, combined with long hours of meditation; this was followed by a three-day absolute fast not even drinking water. This culminated in an extraordinary shamanic journey – and the complete healing of his hepatitis. Finding he had a talent for yoga, he became a yoga teacher, and gradually developed his own system of yoga, “Yoga Adityam,” combining yoga asanas with pranayama and bandhas (yogic body locks), and based on Kirlian photos which show how the chakras and aura are affected by each asana. The “Yoga Adityam” system is now being shared with the world in a 3-volume set of self-published e-books available on Amazon.com. Eventually he and his wife went to India, and spent more time with Amma and several other saints, including an Avadhuta in Tiruvannamalai and a Tibetan Rimpoche in Dharamsala, and had remarkable experiences with all of them. He has also made connections with shamans in Latin America, including a woman who channels beings of light, who assisted him in performing some exorcisms of possessed people in their area. In short, he has had an amazing and unusually eventful life! “Spiritual Experiments” is his story.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Buy This Paperback Version By Theresa G. Yawn Having purchased and worked with the Kindle version of this book, I left a pretty negative review. I wanted the enlightenment that it promised, and after struggling to read it as instructed, I was left aggravated and disappointed. When the paperback version came out, I was determined to give it another shot. I have gotten far more out of the paperback. Reading has been much more enhanced and understanding has been immensely more profound. While this book is not for everyone, if you feel led to purchase it, buy the paperback. The type in the Kindle version is just too small to be able to comfortably follow in the unique way it is meant to be read.

A political rant with a very thin story arc - worst in the series so far By Andrew Pollack This is the worst in an otherwise generally readable series. In terms of the story in the series, this has only the most very loose ties to the overall storyline, and the only mention of previous unresolved plot lines is in the prologue and then again in the epilogue -- as if to promise us that he'll eventually get back to the story when he's done ranting.In this installment, Nuttall returns to the writing style of his much earlier books, in which a thin story arc is used as an excuse to write page after page describing all the worst aspects of living in the sort of nightmarish world of central management and socialist policies that libertarian extremists tend to warn us about. Not ten minutes goes by during the entire book where this political rant isn't refreshed. Eventually, a lucky few get dragged out of their socialist dystopia and and landed on an idealized colony run the way a 15 year old interpretation of Ayn Rand's "John Galt" might fantasize. The colony is a place where honor and personal responsibility are enough to keep a modern society going without a need for courts, problems are immediately solved with corporal punishment, and every sane person walks around armed all the time so they can enforce their own moral law. There are fully justified cases of parents spanking or thrashing their kids for misbehavior -- and I'm not talking about 5 year olds, we're talking about a late-teenage boy that is spanked by a parent hard enough to be sore for a couple of days -- and a case where a "bad kid" is turned into a "good kid" by means of a public lashing (being literally whipped in a public square). I'm increasingly convinced the author is not entirely sane.If you're a 15 year old libertarian that's just finished reading "Atlas Shrugged" and spends his time arguing that the 2nd Amendment (in the U.S.) is the only part of the Constitution that matters, you'll love this book. Otherwise, the only reason to pick it up is to keep going with the series and frankly, you could skip this one and not miss a single step forward in the ongoing story arc.

Good story, preachy libertarianism aside By Amazon Customer If you took out the constant libertarian preaching and are willing to suspend disbelief for the wet-dream liberal dystopia he has made earth into you would only have half a book. But it would still make a pretty good page turner of a novella.Other reviewers have compared mr Nuttal to Asimov and Heinlein...please spare me the fanboy rhetoric! There are no ground breaking social ideas here, no new insights to human social behaviors. These are well written space operas provided as a HUGE soapbox for mr Nuttal to beat us over the head with his politics from. He even goes so far as to provide undisguised political monolouge in the last few pages.Good stories, yes I like them. Great author, I think not. I double dog dare mr Nuttal to write a full book length story without any brickbat politics.

By Charles Almond I've now read all of the published Empire's Corps books available, and I have to say that I find each one incredibly insightful for its particular social topic, not to mention Mr. Nuttall spins an incredible story. I'm a professor in a public community college, and this stand-alone book's focus on education is incredibly insightful and poignant. Each book looks at society from a different perspective, and offers insight into the worst and the best we have to offer - not to mention they are all fantastic stories with fantastic characters. I read a lot, and I have to say that overall this series is the best I've read in years!As for the one review that lists two stars due to "too much gratuitous sex," well, that is what hedonists do! That was part of the danger we may face if things ever devolve to what society is like in the empire - when all people do is focus on the here and now with no thought to consequences or responsibilities, then that is exactly the kind of behavior that you can expect! I thought it fit the story and the pretext well.

About the Author

If you have ever felt drawn to living off the land, you should read it. At much as anything, it's an examination of our (largely unexamined) modern lifestyle, in which many are feeling increasingly uncomfortable. It reflects on the reality we have left behind by getting away from the land, from animals, from nature.... Marcus Grodi does not pretend to have all the answers: he's reflecting on his own life in this book and offering his own questions for our reflection.The book is also partly an offering of the lessons that one learns from living close to animals, from doing things by hand. These lessons are priceless, and they tend to be ones you can't get any other way. I still have to finish this book, but I would like to sit down and have a nice long talk with the author.

This book isn't so much about farming, however, it does include the peaks and valleys with his family's inherited farm. I consider it a Guidebook on Living. I have another book by the title How Now Shall We Live...well Grodi tells us how to live, close to the land and close to the Lord. I can't recommend this book highly enough.

About the Author Jim Flanagan retired from education and took his experiences on the road in the form of stories. He was a Hall of Fame principal and coach. He is well known for his character education stories. In the 12 years, he has been telling he has become a member of the Artists in Schools through the Greater Columbus arts council, placed Second in the National Storytelling Competition, written three award winning children s books. He has told stories and done writing workshops throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington D C, Virginia and Ireland Jim teaches writing at The James Thurber Writing Academy at Thurber House in Columbus, Ohio. Jim s library telling include the Toledo Libraries, Lancaster, Oh Libraries and the Washington DC Libraries. Jim is a haunting investigator and has had many adventures some are in this book.. By Teresa Lott Favorite Stories are great to read to yourself, but even better to read aloud to others! Most of the stories are either funny or a little bit scary. One story is a tear jerker - but then again I get emotional easily :) It's too difficult for me to name a favorite, but I will mention a few of my favorites. In Rebecca, by Jim Flanagan, I liked the lesson it portrays to young girls. I also loved the message of a mother's love in Frank McGarvey's story titled Beauty in the Mist. Frank portrayed a strong female character by the name of Katie in the story Katie Was Afraid of Nothing. I enjoyed it's humorous ending as well. And, since my husband and I have a small boathouse and a fishing boat in Sandusky, Ohio I certainly enjoyed Jim Flanagan's story A Lake Erie Mystery Tale. I'll have to find out if that story was based on factual events or not!

By Amazon Customer Some are classic scary stories, set in cemeteries and haunted schools; others are tales of friendship, exploration, and lessons learned. Almost all feature young or teenage characters, which makes for lively stories that quickly draw you in. Even better, these stories work really well for reading aloud!

In this regard it’s a good, suspenseful novel. But what impressed me the most was the sophisticated weaving in of esoteric knowledge: the seven energies and the parallel universes accessible through meditation that astrophysicist D’Anjou taps into, and the floodgates that open as a result in science and in humanity’s understanding of spirituality. It’s a future story using the Vedas and String Theory as a blueprint.Imagine someone writing about the future who was able to actually see what’s going to happen. That’s the feeling I got reading this novel. The author provides the historical trajectory to the world he sees 200 years from now, and demonstrates that he’s well versed in current events, history, science, technology, and metaphysics. He shows us how a 1950 United Nations paper has impacted our society, how the world might resolve its present income inequality crisis and repair the environment, and gives us a plausible future for artificial intelligence and virtual realities. Even the White Rose Movement from WWII plays a role. And it all meshes together well.I read the author’s previous book, a factual historical novel about the Knights Templar. In a peculiar and artful way this novel works as a sequel.The writing is good and to the point. The only possible flaw, is paucity in development of some secondary characters, most of whom I found likable and interesting, but were still an unknown quantity by the end of the story. Take away a quarter of a star from this otherwise five-star endeavor.
