By Sparrow Siege When The Green Witch Tarot by Ann Moura arrived at my home, the moment I took the kit out of the box I could feel there was something really special waiting inside. That feeling only grew as I opened the box, the kit, and saw the guidebook and pack of cards themselves. It actually exceeded my expectations, and I will get into details:First I must say that these cards have a warm, homey energy that is similar to the Wildwood Tarot but instead, green witchery is the focus, and you are never lost, you are never far from home. That is the feeling that I received in each of the cards: I look into the card, and suddenly I am there in a forest or magical scene: But always waiting, right nearby is a warm, welcoming hearth. Aomiel has truly outdone herself in the way she has presented the "Fool's Journey" and every single one of the Minors: It all flows together perfectly, and the artwork is breathtaking. The cards themselves are a good size: large enough to see the details, yet not too large to shuffle. They are just slightly glossy, a little thin (I will need a second set of these in about 6 months) and they can fit into most tarot bags. They are borderless, which is an added blessing. The cards contain no nudity at all: So if you are wondering if this set would be appropriate for your young witch at home, it is!The Major Arcana are beautifully and go as follows:0 - The Green Man (for spring and new beginnings, I thought this was a great concept)1 - The Witch2 - High Priestess3 - The Earth Mother (Here, the 'empress' is pregnant but standing tall and strong, upon a staff in a field, it's an inspiring image).4 - The Great Horned God (Deep in the forest and it is a beautiful likeness)5 - The High Priest (an old high priest at his work among standing stones)6 - The Lord and the Lady (God and Goddess standing in the forest together surrounded by animals, she looks towards him lovingly)7 - The Battle Wagon (in the spirit of celtic and roman-celtic war chariots)8 - The Crone (a white haired crone with a staff stands with her hand upon a lion, I love this card)9 - The Holly King (he beckons you into a warm cottage out of the snow)10 - The Wheel of the Year (hanging on a stake, the home made Wheel is a lovely card that really gets the message across)11 - The Standing Stone (the most unique portrait of justice I've ever seen and beautiful scenery)12 - The Oak King (Here you see the Great Horned God hung upside down for sacrifice..he is drawing an infinity sigil with a wand in to the ground below him)13 - Lord of Shadows (A touching card portraying Death as the dark aspect of the God, who waits compassionately and patiently for an old man's right time to transition)14 - The Sidhe (that is the image on the box cover)15 - Nature - A really good shadow card of a man deep in the forest setting a bear trap, but the bear is waiting right behind him!16 - The Wild Hunt - The Great Horned God shows his own might in this card, sweeping across the sky down upon a stone turret or tower.. Really unique portrayal17 - The Star - a fairy in a moonlit pool18 - The Moon - A solitary witch deep in the forest, watching the moonlight in a pond19 - The Sun - A cheery, warm cottage in the woods with the sun shining down, a surprising and nice card20 - Harvest - A man at a table laden with the fruits of his labors, his harvest. What one reaps, one sows21 - The World Tree - Beautiful card with the serpent at the tree roots. The minors are no less impressive, with Athames for the air 'sword' suit, Chalices for water/cups, Pentacles for earth, and Wands for fire. For the court cards, all pages are little children, knights are young men or young women, Queens are clearly older women (I like* that!) and the Kings are clearly older men.The GUIDEBOOK to Green Witchcraft Tarot was masterfully written! It is 240 pages long and begins with an introduction to Green Witchcraft as a practice and goes into the Lord and Lady, God and Goddess as they relate through the Wheel of the Year. Ann did a wonderful job of explaining the Wheel, so that even those who are new to the Craft can understand. In the guidebook, there is a black and white image of each card, with a description for the card, the Upright meaning, reversed meaning, and 'prompt words'. Also, for each card, Aomiel describes the herbs and animals that appear in each card, and what they mean: an excellent touch. At the back of the book she offers 7 tarot spreads: Witches Circle, Elemental Cross, Wheel of the Year, Mystic Pyramid, 9 card cube, Yes and No spread, and Tree of Life. Towards the beginning of the book, Ann shares her method of consecrating the cards, and ground and centering for a reading. This is a jewel of a set and I am truly delighted with it, I know I will be spending many happy hours engaged with it!

Thank the Goddess and God I had not returned them yet because the second deck came in and it had production tears, but since I had the other deck I was able to use them to replace the ones that had tears. So it took me two decks to get a nice deck! So please make sure you check every card when you get it. (Which is not saying you would not check)

21 of 21 people found the following review helpful. Beautiful deck, thin cards By Jessica I am so in love with this deck. It has beautiful imagery for any witch or any tarot reader. My only dislike is the cards are a bit thin for my liking and I imagine are going to wear quicker than I'd like because I can see this being my go-to deck. Otherwise, I'm absolutely in love.

Improving with Age: God's Plan for Getting Older and Better, by Stuart Briscoe, Jill Briscoe

Review My long-time friends, Stuart and Jill Briscoe, really know how to enjoy their Golden Years, and they do it in a way that significantly enlarges their eternal estate. While most seniors kick back, retire, and step out of ministry, the Briscoes are moving toward life's finish line with joyful exuberance and consummate purpose. And the best part is, they've sketched out a practical road map for the rest of us seniors in their remarkable new book, Improving with Age. If senior living is getting you down, this book will truly help you live onward and upward! --Joni Eareckson Tada, Joni and Friends International Disability CenterImproving with Age is a timely reminder that those of us who are growing older are desperately needed in our families, our churches and society at large. Those who are retired from their vocations must realize that God has a future for them, not just in heaven but also on earth, even as they anticipate the challenges of old age. I know of no couple more qualified to write this book than the Briscoes, who have modeled continuous service for the Lord well beyond what we generally call the retirement age. I hope many thousands read these pages and find that old age can be welcomed knowing that God has meaningful tasks for us to do. --Dr. Erwin W. Lutzer, Senior Pastor of The Moody Church, ChicagoJill and Stuart Briscoe are living giants of our time. They have gone the distance modeling for us marriage, parenting, grand-parenting and pastoring, while keeping pace with our ever-changing times. I am thrilled that they have now written these important lessons on this valuable season of life. --Mark Foreman, pastor of North Coast Calvary Chapel and author of Wholly Jesus

About the Author Stuart and Jill met each other in the context of youth ministry 60 years ago when he was a Bank Examiner and she was a school teacher. They married and based their life together on the biblical verse, 'As for me and my household we will serve the Lord.' (Joshua 24:15.) Individually and together they have written scores of books, pastored a church in the United States for thirty years, founded a media ministry called 'Telling the Truth' that broadcasts daily, worldwide and now in their eighties they continue to talk to anyone who will listen! They have three children and thirteen grandchildren.

Jim Warwick has a prosthetic leg with plates and screws in his shoulder and eye socket—all results of a tour of duty in the Middle East as an Army Ranger. But now he views the area from a different viewpoint: as an analyst for the department of defense decoding Arabic-language messages.

He met Julie, the nurse who helped him through his recovery; she eventually became his wife. Julie is a UNICEF representative on assignment to Oman and Yemen to evaluate children’s health programs. Jim did all he could to discourage her from going on this trip. Unfortunately his concern was justified as she and three other UN representatives were kidnapped. A week later, because of a botched ransom payoff, one of the UN representatives was stoned to death—the event broadcast worldwide.

Not sure where the kidnappers might hold her, and frustrated with his own government’s lack of effort, Jim gathers his four best friends—all army rangers—which starts an improbable search across the deep deserts of five Middle East countries.

The Searchers is a thrilling adventure full of devotion, strength of character, geography, and history. It will captivate and inspire readers from beginning to end.

The short stories by this author are also excellent. Its nice to read a book where there is not profanity every page and where the characters have real redeeming values. Great adventure story, very well researched into an area of the world that is little known.

By Shannon Werner A great novel with insightful descriptions of two countries that most Americans know little about. The geography and history of Eritrea and Djibouti are both interesting and informative. Jim Warwick could be another Mich Rapp in a Vince Flynn novel with ever increasing twists and turns as Jim Warwick and his soldier comrades search for Jim's kidnapped wife. An action- packed and brutally realistic page turner that keeps the reader asking for what's next. The inclusion of maps and pictures is unique and adds realism to the story.

A FACE haunted Cameron—a woman's face. It was there in the white heart of the dying campfire; it hung in the shadows that hovered over the flickering light; it drifted in the darkness beyond. This hour, when the day had closed and the lonely desert night set in with its dead silence, was one in which Cameron's mind was thronged with memories of a time long past—of a home back in Peoria, of a woman he had wronged and lost, and loved too late. He was a prospector for gold, a hunter of solitude, a lover of the drear, rock-ribbed infinitude, because he wanted to be alone to remember.

By A Customer This classic western tail of men saving women, while being a great love story is also a wonderful adventure story. A classic cowboy\borderman fights indian to save the helpless beuty, but instead of man saving woman, it is reversed, when Helen saves Jonathan from his own unhappy life. I have loved this book since the first day my mother placed it in my hands to read, and although the original has a few lapses in storyline, they kill someone twice, the basic story structure is enjoyable. Having read this book close to a dozen times, I can recommend that every person who has never given westerns a try read this one.

16 of 16 people found the following review helpful. Read the Paperback By djbrkns Great story. I found myself hesitant to pick this book up and reluctant to put it down. I haven't been a big reader of westerns, but I have been wanting to do some historical reading. 'Desert Gold' interested me because it was a western that covered the times that it was published in: 1913.The characters are just good people surviving a harsh environment, protecting whatever and whoever they can. It took me a while to get my mind adjusted to Zane Grey's style of writing, but I really enjoyed everything about it. This is a unpretentious story of finding root, pursuit, escape and survival and it provides a medium for Zane Grey to get philosophical on us during long dusty nights in the desert. Although it may have bogged down a little, I liked the philosophical. Always have. The book has a satisfying ending even if it did finish a little cleaner than it was set up to do.I read this in the 1964 paperback edition, but it would be great in audio!

For two decades, pastor and leadership consultant Matt Keller has worked with hundreds of influencers, and he has learned that the greatest enhancer or greatest limiter to a person’s success is whether someone is teachable. In The Key to Everything, Keller shows how teachability isn’t something that some people are born with and others aren’t. It is a characteristic that can be learned and grown. In fact, the only way to succeed in life is to possess teachability in an ever-increasing fashion, and The Key to Everything reveals how to do just that.

From the Author If you're willing to Discover theKEY TO EVERYTHING...You've Already Found it.

From the Inside Flap For eons, attributes like these have stood as the surest indicators--if not outright guarantees--of success in life. Not anymore. While traditional traits still play important roles, a lesser-celebrated characteristic has risen to the top of the list: teachability. In today's rapidly changing world, making our mark requires an insatiable desire and a tireless willingness to learn, to un-learn, and to re-learn. In short, success requires teachability. But what is teachability, and what difference can it make?In The Key to Everything, Matt Keller unpacks the varied aspects of this essential art, drawing on ancient wisdom and modern insights--from biblical heroes to current influencers such as John Maxwell, Seth Godin, and Dr. Henry Cloud--to show the critical value of learning as if our lives depended on it. With his blend of careful scholarship and comedic wit, Keller has filled each page with stories, quotes, lessons, applications, and laugh-out-loud observations--including sidesplitting endnotes and a priceless homage to Jimmy Fallon.

By ty Matt Keller’s new book, The Key to Everything, lays out the journey of developing the foundation for success. He reveals our most vital trait for prosperous living–teachability. At first, the premise seemed to oversimplify life. I’m an avid learner, but knowledge hasn’t fattened my bank account. The book reveals how teachability reflects more than an appetite for learning. It’s a lifestyle choice. Despite my initial concern, the book examines the intricacies of reshaping human nature.Developing teachability involves a complex process of character transformation. The Key to Everything breaks this down into three parts. The first section identifies five major roadblocks. Chapters encourage readers to break down obstacles and pursue success. Keller includes personal experiences, as if drawing up a chair to chat with his audience over coffee. He sprinkles in quotable wisdom nuggets such as, “Playing it safe is never safe where your dreams are concerned.”The second portion defines the five central characteristics of a teachable person. Keller delivers frequent calls to action to promote cultivation of these traits. His talents as a pastor and leadership coach shine from the page as he invites readers along on a heartfelt journey. He addresses the audience with compassion while challenging them to grow. “Don’t write off feedback from people you don’t happen to like . . . If you find it difficult to separate the message from the messenger, try thinking to yourself, ‘If this was coming from my best friend, how open to hearing it would I be?'”The concluding section maps out five ways to foster a teachable lifestyle. Keller offers brilliant insights such as, “A person with great strengths and weak character is dangerous.” This flavorful book serves a powerful concept to a broad range of readers. Business people, volunteers, community members. Those in ministry as well as those who wouldn’t darken a church door. Keller includes Biblical references as case studies, rendering cozy stories readable by believers and non-believers alike. The Key to Everything makes an enormous promise and delivers on it with style. Keller seasons his conversational writing with humor. I’m grateful for this refreshing read amid the musty shelves of dull self-help books. I recommend Matt Keller’s delightful writing and vital content with confidence.

For one thing, I prefer reading “theory” books to “practice” books. For another thing, I am wary of authors who promise simple answers to complex questions, let alone the key to everything.Simplicity comes in at least two kinds, however. The first kind is synonymous with foolishness. In this sense, a simple person—a simpleton—lacks knowledge or expertise. The second kind pertains to science. In this sense, a simple formula can explain complex phenomena. Think of E=mc2 as an example.Matt Keller’s book is simple in the second sense. He believes that teachability is the key to everything. “Without teachability,” he writes, “you and I will never reach our full potential or leave a mark on the world as we all desire to do.” He doesn’t discount the roles intelligence, hard work, or native genius play in achieving success, by the way. He writes: “all the right stuff minus teachability equals the loss of tremendous potential.”What is teachability? Keller borrows Roger Seip’s formula from Train Your Brain for Success: “Desire to learn times willingness to change equals our level of teachability.” If you desire to learn but are not willing to change, or if you are willing to change but don’t desire to learn, you have a low “teachability index.” The goal is to have a high one. After defining teachability, Keller outlines common roadblocks to teachability: pride, fear, insecurity, pain, and pace. Keller uses the negative example of King Saul from the Old Testament to illustrate these roadblocks. He then goes on to use the apostle Paul from the New Testament to illustrate characteristics of teachability:• insatiable desire to learn and grow• appropriate view of success• openness to feedback• flexible approach to life• ability to handle failure wellKeller concludes his book with guidance about how to develop a lifestyle of teachability. “Teachability is not something we can develop from a single session or a simple intention. It doesn’t develop in spurts and starts.” Rather, he writes: “True teachability is a lifestyle—and it takes practice.”Matt Keller is a Christian pastor and leadership coach, so most of his readers will be fellow pastors or leaders of parachurch ministries. Though his book refers to the Bible, Christian business professionals can safely use it as a coaching tool in a secular business environment too.The Key to Everything is a short, easy read. Don’t let those characteristics fool you, however. Keller is on to something. Whether teachability is the key to everything, I still can’t say. But it is the key to quite a lot. As Proverbs 4:7 puts it: “The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost you all, get understanding.”

Do you get tired of others succeeding around you and wonder why you can’t catch a break? What’s their secret and why don’t they share it? What if I told you the key was right in front of you? In his book The Key to Everything, Pastor Matt Keller explains what’s missing in our success stories. It’s teachability. Huh? I know. I get what you’re thinking. I reacted the same way, but this book came to me right at the perfect time in my life. I was seeing others around me get their “break” and thought it was my turn. The Key to Everything was an encouragement to me. Mr. Keller describes what teachability is all about with two words—desire and willingness. They go hand in hand. “You can desire something all day long, but unless there is a willingness within you to do something about it, you’ll never change or get better.” Part 1 of this book talks about the “Roadblocks to Teachability” – these were eye-openers to me. For me the one that hit home was insecurity. Feeling inferior, like an imposter, incapable, and unworthy. Check to all. I began to wonder if the author was reading my mind! Another huge roadblock is the pace of our lives. I loved this quote, “Everything good in life, including teachability, lives and grows in the margins. And an unhealthy pace eliminates the margins in our lives.” How true is that? Our lives are full to the brim and overflowing because we’re so busy! We have no white space left. In Part 2, Mr. Keller speaks about the “Characteristics of Teachability.” He looks at five different traits, using King Saul as a reference to bring his points into clearer focus. This is done effectively. In the conclusion of the book, Part 3, the author gives us some sound advice on “Developing a Lifestyle of Teachability.” In these chapters he gives tips and strategies. The Key to Everything is well written and easy to read. I loved the humor throughout and especially in the footnotes at the end of each chapter. This is a book you can read in one sitting or one chapter a day. Mr. Keller encourages you to read one a day. In conclusion, I’ll leave you with this quote from the book. Teachability is a choice Teachability is possible. And teachability is essential to getting where you most want to go in life. I give The Key to Everything – you guessed it – FIVE keys! It will unlock your success. You just have to be willing to open the door. P.S. Be sure to read the “Thank-You Notes” at the end. They’re entertaining! **Book has been provided courtesy of The Blog Spot and Thomas Nelson Publishing for an honest review.

Roberson To the previous reviewer: If you are looking for a follow up to I am Pilgram...The Year of the Locust: A Thriller is available for pre-order. This book is by a different author. My five-star rating is totally arbitrary.
