El personaje principal está logrado y aunque los secundarios son un poco planos la trama se aguanta bien. No hay magia ni dragones ni elementos tan típicos del genero fantástico. Wonderful story to take you into a different world By The Pegster If you have read Keith's Watcher's series, you will agree with me that he is firmly establishing himself as author of books of slightly odd teenage boy who gets thrown into a strange world which will become his world.Alex, a college kid, is regarded as slightly odd by his peers, as he has withdrawn himself from most of his friends since his mother vanished a few years prior. He lives with his father who owns a electro-magnetics research company. They both clearly are deeply effected but are supporting each other. On the 6th anniversary of his mother's disappearance, Alex gets called away in school to the head's office where he finds Silas, who works at his father company. Silas tells Alex that his father has also vanished and Silas has been made Alex' guardian. Silas behaves very strange, and Alex does not like him at all. Silas then tells him about the research Alex' father was working on which involved teleportation from one place to the next within a second using a special suit. He wants to know if Alex can provide him with any information, whether his dad has told him anything. Alex fears that Silas' interest might have an ulterior motive, and goes to investigate. He finds the suit and instructions from his dad to destroy everything. But all Alex wants is to find his dad, and maybe even his mum and hopefully this place where they have vanished to. Only one way to find out, and this is to try the suit to teleport himself. The world he will find is nothing like he could have imagined.I did not know the original story of the 'Missing Colony of Roanoke'. and while the author has spun a wonderful story around it, it is not a historical book, but firmly set in the present day.What I like about the book, apart form that it is easy to read, is that even though 'The Under' is of course an invention of the author - a different world and there are supernatural elements - it is still completely believable and I could imagine inventions like that can happen. Or maybe I should not let my reading cloud my perception of the world? Oh no, long may it continue and long may we receive wonderful books like this to take us into different worlds.This is a great start book to a new series, and I can't wait to see how it continues for Alex and everyone in 'The Under'.

By Lisa Binion We all studied the lost colony of Roanoke as part of history class when we were in school. I honestly don’t remember much about it. I remember that Virginia Dare, the first child born in the New World, was born in this colony. By this little girl’s third birthday, the entire colony had disappeared. Where did they go?There are theories as to what happened to the colony, but do we really know why the colony disappeared? Matthew Keith has written a hard-to-put-down story about the disappearance of the colony of Roanoke. Could it have happened this way?The story begins in 1856. Benjamin Croatoan has made an astounding discovery, the Magnosphere, but the residents of Roanoke consider it more dangerous than beneficial. Found guilty of treason and sedition, he is exiled. When the machine is aimed at Croatoan and turned on, he isn’t the only one who disappears.In the present day, we meet Alex Croatoan. His mom and dad were the founders of a research company, Electro-Magnetic Technologies. Leaders in all the newest technological discoveries, they were looking for way to travel from one place to another using energy beams, or teleportation, when Alex’s mom disappeared.On the sixth anniversary of his mom’s disappearance, life once again changes for Alex. This time his dad disappears. By Diana Kassavetis The only major criticism I have of this well written exploration of what happened to the colonists of Roanoke settlement is that it has a good beginning and middle, but no end. A sequel to a book used to modify the original theme somewhat, not be the second installment of a story like the cliff hangers of the old movie theaters . I would gladly pay more for an e-book to get the whole story. As it is, I now look to see how many I have to buy to get one whole story. Sad, because I really enjoyed the book until it never finished.

Excelente By Giselly Salazar Demasiado hermoso ,lleno de aventuras ,momentos difíciles pero sobretodo lleno de esperanza y sentimientos hermosos y mucha fe para salir adelante y sobrevivir ante cualquier circunstancia que la vida te ponga por delante. El escritor logra mantenerte en ascuas y vivir con intensidad cada hecho de la historia que narra, no dejen de leerlo .

Mr. Denney has a knack for presenting characters that at first seem normal and like folks you know. Then, suddenly you realize there's a depth to them--and powers you couldn't even imagine--at work in the eternal battle between good and evil. There's genuine worry when they get in a jam and there's so much relief when somehow things work out. Mr. Denney is adept at story-telling with a knowing nod to the humorous aspects of life. I laughed at his wit. While the stakes are high, he never forgets the human touch as the suspense builds to a conclusion you never saw coming. A great read.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. A character-driven sci-fi novel that pulls you all the way to the end! By Ken Schmanski Mr. Denney has achieved something that I didn't expect. He's pulled me back into the world of sci-fi!. I loved sci-fi in my youth but read mostly thrillers and mysteries now, but Mr. Denney destroys genre stereotypes. If you enjoy a character-driven suspenseful read that pulls you through twists and turns that are totally unexpected, then Soulsnatcher will scratch that itch that you didn't know you had. Bravo, Mr. Denney, you've re-opened my desire to lose myself again in a complex world that has been fully developed in the mind of a masterful writer.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Entertaining By madpuss This was an entertaining read. Plenty of suspense, action and lots of bloodthirsty fights and gore! The story had a satisfying ending even though it is clear the story will continue on. The characters are brought alive for us and it often switches from one character to another, allowing us to hear directly the thoughts and feelings of more than one character. Though the characters in the story develop romantic relationships this story's main focus is not romance but the supernatural and an age old fight of good versus evil.
