About the Author Judi Guay grew up in the small town of Hanover, IL, where she lived a majority of her childhood and adult life. She later moved to Geneseo, IL, in order to further her career in event management in Davenport, IA. Her passion was to write a murder mystery that would be realistic enough to make her readers feel that it was "to die for." After all, the suspense of a good thriller might just be enough to "kill" us all, right? Judi would love to hear from everyone. Was slightly shocked that a part 3 has to happen but the storyline pretty much led you to believe that this wasn't the end. This story really makes you think about how you will pay attention to your surroundings when you are out and about and trust NO ONE. Thank you Judi for opening women's eyes. I think all women need to be reminded of how horrible people "can be" and to be aware all the time.

By makeup*your*life This book is a fascinating look at Autumn's creation of Myrrah, the imaginary world of the Born of Water series. The maps are skillfully rendered and the text is easy to follow. The world of Myrrah is a complex creation featuring a vast array of cultures and lands, which are described in detail. The history of Myrrah, and especially the history of her elementals, is interesting, but I think what I enjoyed most was the background story on each of the primary characters. This book is an eye-opening glimpse into the meticulous work that went into the birth of the Born of Water series and I highly recommend it.

It is easy to read, flows very well and is a Christian based thriller without any of the graphic details or language that I have been finding lately while reviewing books.Brandan does a really great job of developing his characters in a very short time. I love the relationship he has created with John and Callie Case. He also incorporates action and intrigue and then leaves you hanging at the end. I am really looking forward to the next installment of Working with the Enemy.If you want a fast paced book that has great character development and a good plot take the time to read Brandan C. Hadlock's new book. You will enjoy it and learn a few things about lasers and their coming capabilities.This book was given to me in EBook format for my honest review.

By Richard and Liz Married to Callie, John and his wife are raising six children after Callie's first husband died. John has a great love and appreciation for his wife. Are we looking at a "perfect" family? Sadly not as John has just received his 98th job application rejection letter! Typical family evening though as Callie is preparing dinner and asks John to go fetch some beans from the trunk of their car. Imagine John's surprise when he is attacked from behind and finds himself a prisoner in the trunk of his own car!Who are his Cuban captives? What do they want? What secret do they want to purchase from him before the Iranians get to him? Does John really have the blueprints for the L-LID (Localized Lower-level Ionospheric Disrupters) missile/rocket OR is it a case of mistaken identity?When his family falls into the hands of the Iranians who will help John? You might be surprised!This short book is a great start to a series. It is an easy, clean, suspenseful read. There is an ending but is also left wide open for the next book in the series. There is no linked index from the "Go To" tab on the Kindle which is frustrating when you want to look back at a certain chapter. However it is also a common problem in many self-published books and some publishers.

When he is mistaken for someone else, a big and dangerous adventure ensues.I was amazed at how well this short story was done! There was plenty of action and the characters were developed enough that I was able to find them likeable and their relationships believable.I found myself wondering how I would act if I were in John's place. He was level headed and calm, for the most part, which made me like him more, since I would be a mess in his shoes. The pace clipped along, but it was just right for the story. I am curious to see what will happen next.Content: Nothing graphic--just good, clean, intense action with a tad of religion (prayers during intense times).*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review*

I really don’t like sheep, but during two summer stints working on a Wyoming sheep and cattle ranch as a youth, I came to admire not only the shepherds, but their amazing sheep dogs. While being a cowboy can be considered glamorous, riding high over the range, free wind in your face…being a shepherd is quite a different story. You walk and hike and stumble trying not to get tripped up in badger holes or barbed wire or bitten by rattlesnakes. You eat dust and constantly itch from insect bites, stickers and greasy wool; the incessant bleating and general helplessness and stupidity of a flock can sometimes almost drive you crazy.

Having said all that, shepherds develop an enormous respect for their dogs who are every bit the equal in their loyalty and dedication to top working cow ponies. And on lonesome, windy, sagebrush-covered hills and under starry skies, you feel a tremendous sense of empowerment and responsibility to your dogs and your flock so you walk a little taller.

I really don’t like sheep, but I have a great and enduring admiration for the people and dogs who work in the sheep industry.

"Sisters Of The Wyoming Mountains" is a captivating historical novel set in the 1800's around the time of the Gold Rush.Sisters, Rebecca and Katie Prescott along with their parents and at the insistence of their father Micah, make the arduous trek to California in order to strike it rich in their hope to discover gold. Hardships and lack of good fortune haunt them and much to their distress, end up taking the life of their mother. With no money, no food and an injured father, they decide to try and make their way back home to Springfield.As seventeen year old Rebecca and younger sister Katie face each and every challenge with as much positive energy as possible, Rebecca harbors resentment towards her father and secretly holds him responsible for the death of their mother. She silently blames him for the hardships they endure as they pull the old cart along the treacherous path with him on board. Exhausted, they make their way to a stagecoach stop where they encounter Bryce who has been shot. Sisters of the Wyoming Mountains By lreadaholic After thoroughly enjoying reading McCarthy's "Our American West" series, I thought I might venture into one of his historical western fiction novels, Sisters of Wyoming Mountains. Having never cared for the typical western novel, I was in for a big surprise with this truer than life tale of two young women experiencing life's hardships and triumphs in the mid/late 19th century. I was enlightened not only by the many historical landmarks of that era but by the magnitude which the author brought to life many social issues of the time, highlighting women's equality. This is quickly encountered when the oldest daughter is forced into a polygamist marriage by a zealot who had already been excommunicated by the Mormon Church. She then, after a harrowing escape to a much better life, is faced with other prejudices to thwart her dream of becoming a real doctor. Meanwhile her sister is fighting for her dream to become the biggest sheep rancher in Wyoming; tough for a man, but next to impossible for a women. This book is the perfect prelude to Book II, Sisters of the Wyoming Plains, where you feel like you are right there, in the middle of the difficult struggle for Women's suffrage in America.If you love American History and enjoy great stories, look no further than Sisters of the Wyoming Mountains.

By Reggie Sisters of the Wyoming Mountains is a well told western adventure story; all your emotions will be brought to the surface as this story progresses.It is a lively experience of two sisters. As a reader, I went the full gambit of thrilling to the main characters life struggles, and how they are forced to survive in the Wild West in mid-1800. There are many twists in this story.I would certainly recommend the reading of this story, the characters are all believable, and you will love the heroes or hate the villains with gusto.

About the Author Charmaine Pauls was born in Bloemfontein, South Africa. She obtained a degree in Communication at the University of Potchefstroom and followed a diverse career path in journalism, public relations, advertising, communications, photography, graphic design, and brand marketing. Her writing has always been an integral part of her professions. After relocating to Chile with her French husband, she fulfilled her passion to write creatively full-time. Charmaine has published ten novels since 2011, as well as several short stories and articles. Two of her short stories were selected for publication in an African anthology from across the continent by the International Society of Literary Fellows in conjunction with the International Research Council on African Literature and Culture. When she is not writing, she likes to travel, read, and rescue cats. Charmaine currently lives in Montpellier with her husband and children. Was not sure what to expect when I started reading this book, but hot damn! LOVED it!!!What sizzle between Jacob and Lily, and boy did they heat up the pages! Not to mention the action-packed plot that completely enthralled me and left me wanting more.When I learned there are several more books in this series, I was afraid this book would leave me with a huge cliffhanger, but I'm happy to report that it does not. Loving the Enemy has an HEA and can be read as a complete standalone, but with a storyline this good....why wouldn't you want to check out the rest of the series!!!

I do not like erotica and thus, lots of the passages in this book was not for me.However, I really dislike it when the erotica is the story which is not true here, it is an intrical part yes. But it is not THE story.Jacob is kinda hot although how he perceives ownership of woman drove me nuts.Our nineteen year old spoiled brat turned out to be very smart and a fun character and the plot moved fast, giving and taking from the reader the entire time.Nothing is as it seems. Even when the boards are flipped over, do not trust what you read. The truth is far more complicated and as a prequel this book does an amazing job of letting you get a taste of a world thankfully not my own.WaAr

By Sharon S We start in the middle of the story when Lily is homeless and on the run since an armed attack on her home 2 months ago. Up to that point she lead a privileged life with an over protective father who she recently discovered was a criminal mastermind. When she is tracked again and almost killed she knows that she must try to get to her father in Paris.She meets a man in the park, Jacob, who says he is in private security and will help her get to her father after his home is destroyed by the attack on her life. It turns out there is a hit on her and he is one of the many people trying to either use her to get to her father or kill her. She feels bad for getting him caught up in the mess she is in so she ditches him before anything happens to him, but will she realize just how much danger she is in before she comes face to face with the man who wants her dead?I really enjoyed the story and the way Jacob took care of her but at the same time how strong she was when faced with the many threats. Turns out she knows about the Seven Forbidden Arts which means she is valuable to some and a threat to others. There was just enough of an intro to the characters in the rest of the series to make you want to read more!An ARC was provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

It was a good and interesting premise but needed some tightening in my opinion...too many coincidences made it a bit unbelievable. True, there was a content warning but the detail of the twisted sex became tiresome pretty quickly. I'm probably just not part of the "target audience" for this "huge cock" niche genre. All that being said, the writer shows serious promise as a storyteller.

About the Author Claudia has had a love of words ever since she can remember—reading, writing, and even spelling them. She has also been dabbling in fine art for a number of years, using “Claudia” as her signature. The biggest love of her life is her Arabian horses. Her foundation stallion is now deceased but his legacy lives on with sons and daughters at Provin’s Promises Arabian Horses, at her home outside of Rantoul, Kansas. You will see the influence of horses in much of her writing and art work. Born and raised in the rural Osawatomie, Kansas, area, she spent a number of years in the Block, Kansas, community and then lived in northern Texas until returning to Kansas a few years ago. She joined the Ottawa (Kansas) Writers’ Guild in 2013 and is looking forward to many words of happy writing. She likes to write about true adventures—or what could have been true with a little imagination. Coming out soon is her first work—an anthology called A Kansas Collection of Reflections. Her current work in progress is a combination prequel/side-story/sequel—the story of “Karen”, the Waif found by travelers in A Tale of Going West on THE Oregon Trail.

Written in a casual, comfortable style, perhaps aimed toward the teen age group... full of interesting information, facts, and anecdotes. Set in pioneer times, the historic information and experience is vividly portrayed. The information on the Arabian horses is correctly done as I would expect this longtime breeder to do; she knows this subject inside and out and presents it lightly and seamlessly along with the rest of the story. She has even included a bit on the Saluki, the hound of my own heart; and tied the desert characters to the American ones very neatly and believably. My only problem is that I'd have loved to have been the proofreader [having done it for a living for 20+ years]. I'd have nudged some of the punctuations and some of the spacing... and maybe made a few small style changes. I'd certainly recommend this book for any teenage girl especially; but it's been many decades since I was a teen and I have enjoyed it anyway. The activities and language are within realistic parameters for today's youth (even some home-schoolers I know) and there are lots of little factoids and incidents that really tell the story of the everyday covered-wagon experience. I'll look for this author's next effort, I know it will be worth the wait.

15 of 16 people found the following review helpful. like freedom from tyranny and freedom of information By Bard Bloom In a galaxy held together by scattered one-way jump points ("glomes"), andruled by seven tyrannical corporations, an archaeologist finds a map of allthe glomes in the galaxy left by a million-years-gone species. This is a bitdestabilizing.The book came out a bit preachy. Preachy in stuff I generally agree with,like freedom from tyranny and freedom of information. But J.R. Wells < H.G.Wells when it comes to making the preachy palatable.The drama works nicely, escalating from a rather amazing one-person escape toa solid scene where one world will either be destroyed or saved. Thesecondary villains are sensible, believable people with good motivations. (Theprimary ones are a bit one-dimensional.)The social details get pretty nice. E.g., the corporations initially got49-year rights to use a space thing. But they extended it by tricks: e.g.,if you sign up for a consumer discount card at a grocery store the corporationowns, you also give them another 49-year right to the space thing (for yourpurposes). Clever and plausible.One character swears by Klono. Wells knows his SF history!Good storytelling, adequate characters, some plot contrivances. Three glomesout of five — this book is better than about half the books I finish.

WellsI picked this one up from the author's post on Kboards. I checked it out and ran through the sample offered and decided I wanted to read it. I'm glad I did because it’s a good story in more ways than I had expected.It starts with Exoarcheologist Evan McElroy, who has made revelatory discoveries about an ancient race, the Versari, a long-departed alien race; and he is expecting this will round out his academic credentials. But Evan's sponsor, the Affirmatix family of companies, see everything as risk and opportunity and that vision will call for the death of everyone on Evan's team. While out in space checking out his theory about a new glome (most glome exit points are unknown until they send probes through and even then if they are too far our in space it might be a while to confirm); Evan is certain that he know the exit point of this new glome based on knowledge from an artifact. While finding the glome he also finds himself under attack from the family and he must make a rapid series of decisions. His decisions leave him in a known area of space waiting to float endlessly and uselessly in orbit until he dies.This alone was a draw into the story as we see the oxygen level running out and the story of what it is he has discovered is slowly revealed.But then we switch below to the Kelter the world which Evan calls home and the place he has sent an enigmatic message for an old friend Mira Adastra, who owes him. He also left behind an ex-girlfriend Kate DelMonaco. And these three Mira, Kate, and Evan would seem to be the primary characters in the story. But there are more.In this universe information is of high value and the seven great families have kept it under lock and key for decades. One place on Kelter, the Untrusted Zone, Infoterrorist, who believe information should be shared, have been held at bay by an uneasy truce. Now Arn Lobeck has brought the force of the Affirmatix Family into Kelter space in pursuit of Evan to suppress the knowledge Evan has. With him he has brought a mix of Contract Professionals of which Sonia and Ravi are two who are meant to advise him.This novel is a complex thriller with the threat of a world destroying battle formation known as D6 and while this thread takes a back seat most of the way through as a reader I found that this thread contained the story of the two most important characters.James R. Wells creates some complex and real characters in this story. And the struggle that Sonia and Ravi go through and how it leads to their heroic and yet less than heroic actions will determine the outcome of the most threatening feature of Arn Lobeck's plan. And intermixed within all of this is the political landscape that surrounds the more powerful members of the great families.This one goes in my top 5 of new Science Fiction with debut authors.I think this is a Great SFF and should even satisfy some of those Simon Pure Science Fiction readers. There are some aspects of the ancient race that might look mystical but for the most part the science within the story stays fairly sound. Definite recommended reading and it will be interesting to see how Mr. Wells follows this one with book 2. J.L. Dobias

I was able to subscribe to it back in the day and have many years of all the holidays and special issues they published. I also watch at book sales, yard sales, and estate sales and pick up every issue I can get my hands on. I actually have one from the very first year it was published. I live in a small town and am not able to go to a book store to purchase a copy. So glad Amazon has them but I still wish I could subscribe to them. I know it's the bottom dollar and with all the electronic devices, no one wants hardcopies anymore except old folks like me.:)
