About the Author Gidon Ariel is the founder and CEO of Root Source. Gidon made Aliyah to Israel in 1978 at age 14, and spent close to a decade in advanced Jewish studies institutes (Yeshivas) and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Raised as an Orthodox Jew, Gidon has kept Jewish traditions his entire life. On the Wings of Their Garment By William Struse I enjoy reading different perspectives on all things Biblical and Israel First: The Key to Understanding The Blood Moons, Shemitah, Promises to Israel, and the Coming Jubilee was one of those books which offered a truly unique perspective on subjects which are currently garnering a lot of attention.Building on the work of Mark Biltz and Jonathan Cahn the authors of Israel First offer a different take on the subject of the Blood Moons and the Shemitah, one which see these signs in a more Israel/Jewish centric perspective. I thought the authors view on the Blood Moons and their occurrence over the last 2000 years particularly interesting. I do have some reservations but definitely thier point of view worth considering. I do agree with the authors that the Shemitah should not be seen in a totally US centric point of view.To me the best part of this book was the spirit of brotherly love and genuine humility showed by the authors towards each other and their readers. Though each comes from a different background and different faith they find common ground in the words of the Living God of the Bible.In the spirit of respectful and I hope constructive criticism I believe the book would have been stronger if the discussion of the Shemitah would have been established upon a firmer Biblical and historical foundation. There are several Shemitah and at least one possible Jubilee synchronism discernable in the Biblical record. The 10th year of Zedekiah, the 20/21st year of “Artaxerxes” and the 30th year of Ezekiel (among others) provide three synchronisms which give a good basis in the Biblical record for the Jubilee and the Sabbath cycles. These combined with the historical Rabbinic sources provide a reasonable basis upon which to build an accurate Shemitah/Jubilee cycle. Incidentally this line of investigation shows that 69/70 AD was a Jubilee year and 2029/30 will be the next one. This makes for an interesting consideration in light of the 28 year Shemitah grouping the authors described in this book.On a differentf subject the authors pointed out the number 13 is associated with rebellion in the Bible. It’s only fair to mention that Buillinger who first made this statement goes on to show that 13 is also associated in the Bible with atonement. Bullinger does point out that the names of God: YHWH, Adonai, Ha-Elohim all are multiples of 13.Rabbinic sources, on the other hand, have no such negative stigmatism associated with the number 13. There are 13 principles of the Jewish faith as laid out by Maimonides. The Babylonian Talmud describes 13 trumpet shaped offering chests in the temple. They also note that the priest during the 2nd temple era made 13 “prostrations” to the 13 gates of the temple. Last but not least the Talmud states that someday the land of Israel will be divided among the 13 tribes, the 13th division going to “the prince of Israel” … Him who “men of all the tribes will serve.” Interestingly the apostle Matthew in the controversial generational list of Matthew 1 left out four Old Testament kings thus making Yeshua the 13th generation in the third grouping.In closing though I don’t agree with all of the authors conclusions I nevertheless appreciated seeing the subject through their eyes. They provided much food for thought, especially as it relates to the central role Israel and the Jewish people play in the our Creators eternal plan for mankind. With these thoughts in mind I end this review with the prophetic words of Zechariah:“…many people and strong nations shall come to seek YHWH of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before YHWH. Thus saith YHWH of hosts, In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of the all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt [kanaph-wing] of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.” (Zech. 8:22-23)If YHWH wills, may He hasten that day!

I've read the books by Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, Pastor Mark Biltz and Pastor John Hagee. They are all wonderful and each gives a slightly different perspective on the Blood Moons and the Shemitah, etc. This book, ISRAEL FIRST, comes at it from yet another viewpoint. In many ways, this book is more positive and more hopeful. This book comes at the topics in a unique way, from the perspective of Jews and Christians working together, understanding each other, understanding the times we are in and the importance of Israel in all of it.ISRAEL FIRST, THE KEY TO UNDERSTANDING THE BLOOD MOONS, SHEMITAH, PROMISES TO ISRAEL, AND THE COMING JUBILEE, is a fantastic book. As a Messianic Gentile, I appreciate learning from the Jewish perspective and I believe the Christian community will benefit from learning about the Jewish Roots to their faith. As a member of ROOT SOURCE: Israeli Jews teaching Christians Worldwide, I have been privileged to learn from both Gidon and Bob on the topics in this book as well as other fascinating topics, taught from the Jewish perspective. It has greatly enriched my spiritual walk.I've spoken with both Bob and Gidon and I can tell you, from experience, they both have a burning desire to see Jews and Christians working and learning together and they both have great love for "The Land" and most of all, for The Lord and the Word of God.I truly appreciate the insightful, thoughtful, articulate way this book is put together and I'm positive that anyone reading it will thoroughly enjoy it. I am convinced that no matter how much you know about the issues presented in this book, you will learn something new and you will be blessed by it.

I thoroughly devoured the teachings of Israel First and consider it an extremely important work on understanding the times and the critical importance of Israel on the world stage regardless of one's personal religious or spiritual beliefs. The most recent tetrad of blood moons and their falling on 2 Passovers and Sukkoth holidays at the end of a shemitah year and the dawn of a jubilee year is a subject that has buzzed through the news worldwide. Even Wall Street is talking about what may be coming at the close of the Shemitah year.Israel First explains in profound depth with much historical research and data as well as astronomical patterns what is the significance of this blood moon tetrad and its implications for Israel and the World. The book offers many diagrams that put the data the authors found in a view that is easily understand and underlines the book's content. Key episodes of world history are covered in the book. The writing style is smooth flowing and an easy read for deeply complex subjects and is definitely a page turner!With the tumultuous times we are living in many are deeply concerned about what lies ahead for economies, shifts in leadership roles of nations and are looking for answers in prophetic messages and books. I felt that the book Israel First detailed (see Appendix B) many events and changes that are to come detailed in each chapter. Unlike other books and articles on this topic of "what lies ahead?" I felt that the material in Israel First left me encouraged and hopeful and not fearful for the future.The material covered in this book I have highly recommended personally to numerous friends who are looking for answers and a prophetic message for our modern times. I give this work an A+++ for the depth of research produced for our easy consumption in every chapter. I loved the profound messages of this book that gives clues to the future but gives you the overall sense that we are in the hands of a Loving God.
